Does anyone have an update on the new adult pool being built at the Marriott Surf Club? When will it be finished? Where is it on the property? Thanks for any info.

I read an update on the pool on another forum. It said that the pool is located where the volleyball courts were, and that it was coming along nicely. Estimated completion (according to the observer) is September.

We will be there in 13 DAYS!! and I will gladly post an update.

We were looking at progress pictures of the pool the other day (sorry not sure what website I saw them on) and the pool is not located where the volleyball nets are but just behind them towards the hotel.
There had cleared a space away on the actual hotel pool property previously in preparation for this. If you had been to the SC lately you will know what I am talking about. The pool is located by the Lighthouse building where there was a hot tub and lots of greenery. It is at the edge of the pool property before the walkway and swings to the beach.

Just got back from the Surf Club and the new pool is exactly where Randi said, right before the volleyball courts. It is pretty far along and I would guess it should be open in a month or two-was scheduled for August but this is Aruba time. They were putting the tiling in the pool when we left and it looks like it will be a great area if you want to get away from kids, etc as it is adults only.

I was there in July and it is definitely much further along. The pool was fully tiled and the surrounding area was being worked on. I know they are hopeful to open in September so maybe we can get an update from a more recent visitor. I will be back next July and I know it will be done by then-even on Aruba time :D

Stayed at the Ocean Club last week; the Surf Club pool is not done; maybe by the end of September. There was water in the pool, and vegetation planted on the side, but a lot of work still needs to be done or so it looks like it does. They were also working on the new walkway.

if anyone's interested, I saw a picture of the completed pool on tripadvisor.com. Search the Surf Club, go to photos, and it's about the 13 photo from the beginning.

just saw the photo on trip advisor. Looks incredible. Although seems like it may not be very quiet/ relaxing given the location.

I was thinking the same thing! Isn't that the same sidewalk that leads to the Ocean Club?

Thanks for the picture and it looks great. i will definitely be quiter than the other pools at the Surf Club since it is adults only. We saw it in July when it was being built and it is located on about the only area big enough on the property where it isn't so windy. I can't wait to use it next July!

I'm here now, and to tell you the truth, it's my least favorite pool of them all. I felt like I was in a fish bowl. It's in a very busy traffic area. You may think its quiet, but I don't like the location.

I really don't think there was anywhere else to put an Adullt only pool. I would assume that they will put some landscaping to help with the screening by the walk way and will help with the sound too.

Although I never sit at the pool, I would imagine as Jeff said that it would still be quieter than what goes on at the regular pool?

I just got this email and I am curious if someone knows what this means?

Please remember you cannot use chair tags for chaise lounges that are located in the pool area; those are only for your use while you are occupying the lounge.

I am confused, I was under the impression that the chair tags were to show that the chairs were taken? If your sitting in the chair, why would you need a tag?

Andrea J.
11-22-2010, 08:36 PM
my guess is.............occupy it or it's gone?
so, if you go into the pool do you lose chaise lounge tenancy?

Arubalisa
11-22-2010, 08:43 PM
...or can you only use tags on the chaise lounges on the beach?

Randi

They instituted the tag policy to try and get control over the chairs at the pool and beach.
The pool, people (during peak season) would head down to the pool at 5:30pm and place tags down and go back to their room. Then they made the policy that you had to stay with your chairs until 7:30am and then you could leave them and come back in 2 hours. More reasonable imo.

So I am not sure what this new policy is all about??

It's also used to keep "outsiders from claiming a chair at the pool by just wandering in. If you belong then you have chair tags. I guess they don't want people hogging the new chaise lounges and you can still "tag" one of the biminis- the chairs with the coverings at the new pool.

We were in Aruba in August. One afternoon two older women came up to the biminis and sat down. They were there in the lazy river for over 2 hours.
The older one (mother) told us they were staying at the Hyatt and just came up to use the pool. They also said they usually stop along the way up and enjoy whatever meal is being served at the hotels for their guests. LOL

They have chairs that are in the water, those are the chairs they are talking about.

DannyO, this still is unclear to me. Look at what they wrote???

I sent a return email to the the Manager of the Surf Club asking for clarification. His return email was more confusing than the first. I guess the only way to find out about the tags, chairs, biminis, etc. is to wait until you go on vacation and see what the Surf Club has up its sleeve then.

Randi
11-24-2010, 12:50 PM
ok, I just got an answer from the SC. DannyO is correct, there are six chairs in the water and they can not be reserved. If you are on them, they are yours but if you get up...too bad!
