UAV / Drones in aruba???
I would be surprised if anyone knows, but are there any laws regulating drone/UAV(unmanned aerial vehicle) usage in Aruba?

My wife and I are professional videographers, recently picked up a drone for the business to be able to capture areial footage and I just cannot get enough of it.
With our Aruba trip planned for July I cannot stop thinking about what I could capture with this thing there.

What is it exactly?
A relatively small radio controlled helicopter with 4 propellers (quad copter) that totes around a stabilized goPro.
Trade-winds are a concern but the little thing is fairly intelligent, knows its location based on satellites and can easily handle (fly in and hover in place in) 20MPH and a little higher winds so I think I will be good most days/times...
Local laws, although I don't see it being a problem are another concern.

And yes, i'll share footage on here!! :-)

Is the "drone" having any difficulty in the wind?

The wind definitely poses its challenges with every flight but I'm fairly versed in the flight controls so nothing to terrible so far.
Flying at the gold mine the other day (vid below) and as I flew over the top obviously ther is crazy turbulence inside and the drone got pushed down and it was literally all I could do to ascend fast enough before plowing into the side!!!

Today we were at eagle beach and against my better judgment I flew out about 1000 meters off shore to chase a boat... getting out was no problem due yo tail wind but getting back was a fight into the headwind and I got back just in time to safely land within my battery limitations!!

I'll be posting up more!! got a tour on the octopus tomorrow and already okayed it with jethro to bring on board!!! :-)

Can you post a picture of your actual drone? My husband loves to fly his remote helicopter as a hobby and I am sure he would love to see what this looks like. thanks and great videos, have fun!

How awesome. So, if I understand correctly, you can stay on the beach and send the camera out over the sea for pics. Can I assume your hand held controller has a screen so you can see what you're videoing? And then also, you can print a still pic from the video?

And don't worry, to us amateurs the colors are wonderful, and we don't realize it's a simple edit . I am, as I'm sure others are, playing Aruban music in my head as I watch.

Thanks!

Here is another from our tour with ClubArias.com (sunrise atv tour)..
I got so much more but it is proving to be really difficult to edit on my tablet so sorry for the non daily updates like I had planned.

And yes.. I have a screen that I can view what is captured from where I am granted within distance (video feed is shorter than controller(able) distance).

I took it out about 1000M (3000ft) the other day at eagle and with the headwinds coming back it literally burned through an entire battery.. I was getting a little worried but I made it back!!
