Hi there,

my name is Silvia and I moved from Germany to Aruba 4 weeks ago working for a hotel on the island.

It would be great to meet people to experience the Arubian way of life. I am interested in so many things, be it sports (Beach Tennis, Beach Volleyball, Baseball or Softball, Volleyball, Tennis etc.), Bowling, Carneval, Boardgames (yes, I am oldfashioned and love it!), taking Papiamento lessons or simply hanging out together on the beach.
Is there something like expats meeting up to exchange experiences?

I look very much forward to hearing from you!
Silvia

hi silvia
welcome to the aruba.com community forum!

i wouldmsuggest that on your off time, you visit a happy hour or a beach volley ball event. a good way to participate and
meet people.

also too there is a group of ex pats on island, but i do not have contact information. hopefully someone will post it?
are you an american or german?

there are plenty too of volunteer organizations ...one of which is ARF-Aruba an animal education and rescue group.
forum member Sugar is very active there.

also there are a couple of orphanages in aruba that would love volunteers.
i will try to find the contact infor for you there.

your posting is now in the "property owners and let's meet up area of the forum"

Welcome to the forum Sylvia! Stop by Scott's Brats on Palm Beach and speak to Scott and Leslie, they can probably answer a lot of your questions.

Dear Andrea,

thank you so so much, this helps a lot! I am german, bavarian actually, hehe.
Where would I find information about beachvolleyball events? I played already a few times at the Hyatt Pier which was fun but mainly for tourists, so nothing for longterm friendships. :-)

Have a lovely evening!
Silvia
