soon the Aruba borders will be open.

many of us are really needing Aruba as to escape from reality ....even for just a bit.

Aruba......so close, yet so far.

Aruba does feel like a lifetime away. As much as I would love to just go and enjoy the island I’m hoping their opening of the borders will be done with great caution.

Part of me feels like going on the earlier end with minimal tourists is better than what may be a very high season. This is purely speculation, of course. I am interested to see how the casino situation will play out, but I don't spend much time in the casinos anyway. But I imagine lots of wipes will be necessary as so many people touch the machines.

I am just needing PEACE!
Even for a few days.

Aruba where happiness prevails.

Agree...our travel dates have opened up for September, which isn't that far away, but we're holding off on reserving any flights yet. Just waiting it out, like the rest of us.

I'm booked and ready to go and have chosen to continue to positively make plans as if nothing has changed! Corona? No thanks, I'll have an Aruba Arriba or 3 :D

I miss you all so much. It truly makes me sad. I carved out a bit of time to pop in here and Facebook yesterday for the first time in a very long time. I wish I never went to FB though - I'll stay here with the positive island vibes :)

Sadly this is the message i just received from a close friend who lives on the island. I am not sure its accurate its just what he just sent me.

"now i heard aruba will not open the borders until November" there was more but you get the point. He was sad and is worried about all the other job losses coming if this is in fact accurate.

That would be very sad news. I can’t say that I would be really surprised though. You see how slowly things are moving in Massachusetts and there is the chance of a resurgence. I feel for the people of Aruba as most jobs are tourism related. They are trying to keep their people safe but it does come at a great cost.

We have reservations for November at Manchebo but we’re just today talking about cancelling because of all the unknowns.

We are thinking of going in November for Hubby’s birthday. Could use some down time. Both of us have been working on the front line- grocery store worker and freight driver so to have some real down time would be awesome!

I spoke with my best friend on the island a little while ago. He said while he did hear that rumor he thinks its just that a rumor. He said the Ritz is scheduled to open up on July 1st. They have been completing training on what the new normal will be. He said the new normal includes washable masks for the employees. He is worried how hot some of them will get outside but its required as expected.
I am hoping everything goes well and they do open up for business on July 1 as planned.
