Grouper never appealed to me. I had a mixed platter at Red Fish that included “grouper” and it was underwhelming. I’m not a huge fish eater but I love To have Red Snapper when in Aruba. 😊 I like to have the whole fish, I know they actually caught it. I also had barricuda at Lazy Turtle that was delish.

Is there any list that we can check to see who has the real grouper?

Really don't think so.... some restaurants offer grouper and you kinda wonder if it is!.... Others label on the menu.... beside 'Grouper'....!

We usually get our seafood from Lings. Is that local fish? Or can someone recommend a local fish market?

There is a "new-ish" restaurant called Taste my Aruba. She has been posting videos of the fresh catches on her facebook pages sometimes and a few days I've noticed grouper in the cooler. I would say that's a place that if the menu has grouper, it's grouper.

I had the almond -crusted grouper at Chophouse last Friday night. I had gotten chatty with Harold, the legendary server, and asked him point blank if it was really grouper. He assured me that it was and encouraged me to order it. I find it difficult to believe someone with his reputation would deliberately mislead a customer. Real or not it was absolutely divine and perfectly grilled. Huge piece of fish with toasted almond slivers (not ground up) and a delicate coconut sauce that gave it a slightly sweet finish. One of the best fish entrees I've ever had - and I'm born and bred on coastal New England. I know when fish is well done.
