Madame Janette’s (when they first started up)
I miss Barney's and Legends. I always wanted to get to Hollywood Smokehouse, but never made it for some reason. There was also a place downtown, Turtle Cove maybe? It was over the bus station and we really liked the laid-back vibe. Then of course there was Carlos and Charlies, shut down for no good reason. Melt-Away was really good, but it didn't make it. Seems like a lot have come and gone.
A couple of classics that I miss, Chez Matilde (downtown) and Le Dome. The Dover Sole was to die for and their Chocolate Truffles that they brought out with the cheque were irresistible.
There was a great restaurant in the low rise area that was like a mini Madame Janette - the outdoor dining was charming. Great food and they served dessert in shot glasses. Cannot remember the name of it for the life of me! Last time we were there years ago the outside dining was closed and we did not like the atmosphere inside. I believe they were located in the “smell area” near the sewage plant and may have contributed to their closing sadly. Anyone remember this restaurant?
Oops I just saw the name above. It was Chef’s Table!
