    Another forum newbie

    Hi there,

So looking forward to my trip in May. Been to Aruba one time before, about 15 years ago with husband and loved it!! This time going with husband and several girlfriends to celebrate a few of our birthdays. Staying at the Hyatt, looks like a gorgeous place. Thinking of maybe renting a car 1-2 days that we're there to do some exploring. Is driving around the island fairly easy?

    Thanks,
    Bernadette

Welcome to the forum. The Hyatt is a beautiful property and I’m sure you will enjoy it. Many people rent cars when on the island. Guess it depends on how much exploring you plan to do. As I understand it, driving is easy in Aruba. We have yet to rent a car in 15+ trips. Days for us are spent on the beach and we enjoy walking to area restaurants. Taxis are plentiful and fares are reasonable so it’s easy to get one.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with a Peg. Have been to Aruba 25 times and we never rent a car. Cabs are inexpensive to to get to restaurants and we prefer not driving when drinking at dinner. You can always rent a car for a day or 2 if you to plan to explore the island.

BernieA welcome to the forum! We rent a car every year and have been all over the island. Biggest thing to remember is NO right turn on red and be careful going to the other side if you don't rent a jeep.

Welcome to the Aruba.com community forum!
We too rent a car during every visit.
As Walt says..........no right on red and when you get lost (and you might) just aim in the direction that the wind is blowing in. (look at the trees)

Cab prices are reasonable (go to Getting Around Aruba category for the price chart)

There have been a few changes since your last visit well, more than a few!

Also load maps.me on your phone for maps of the island. It works off-line.
