Prices for dinners are pretty usual but I guess that depends on the area of the US. As compared to NJ or NY, it is on par with pricing. Staying on Palm Beach makes it very easy if you are not renting a car while on vacation. Taxi fares are regulated and not too expensive. There are many restaurants and even casinos in the Palm Beach area (and walkable). We always have a car so we venture out every night. Any questions, please feel free to reach out. We have all gone to Aruba many many times (we have been about 40 times). Enjoy your planning.
i have already looked at this one and have it on my list. I definitely liked what I saw.

Hi Brian Welcome you've come to the right place. With 5 children maybe an All-Inclusive is the way to go try the Tamarijn or Divi in the Low-Rise district they're quiet(er). Divi and Tamarijn share amenities between resorts and are separated by a beautiful stretch of beach. We stay at Manchebo which is north of the Divi that's beautiful too! A few miles north of these resorts is the High-Rise district Rio Palace All-Inclusive, Barcelo All-Inclusive to name a few. High-Rise district is livelier. We've not stayed at an All-Inclusive in Aruba but have heard they're great.!

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

    Hi Bryan,

Let me join the chorus of others in welcoming you to the forum.

Lots of good information to be found here, with personal touch. The people here are helpful and friendly.

Just to give some context, we live in Winnipeg, Canada; pretty much straight north of you. We've been going to Aruba, on and off, for 40 years. We never tire of the place.

You'll find the all-inclusive or not-all-inclusive debate cropping up on the forum every once in awhile. Here's my take on it.

For a first trip, especially if it is just you and your wife; a hotel or condo might be good. That way you'll be able to sample Aruba's very large, lively and varied dining scene and you won't be mad at yourself for having to eat at just one place.

Are you or your wife a shopper? Aruba can be a shopper's paradise.

Whenever you go; sun, swim, play, shop, dine and have fun!

    No I didn't Walt.

I just assumed that they would be doing that, not just in addition to the other things but while they are actually doing them. Like shopping. Many high-end jewelry stores have bars in them; probably to take your mind off what you're about to spend.
