Wind and sun………what more can one ask for?

Today was “interesting” to say the least.

We were supposed to go to LaCabana and Eagle Beach today, but made the change to Boca Catalina last minute.

We were up early and off to Boca Catalina Beach and were the only ones there except for Marco. Marco is an employee of the Hertz office at the airport. He swims every morning and then heads to work at 2. We have met him numerous times and he is a Boca Catalina “regular”.

He swims to the south to Malmok Beach and then turns and swims up to Catalina Cove and then back to Boca Catalina Beach.
After his swim, he bobs about with Paul and I and we solve the world’s problems. The first time that we met him was on the morning after our presidential election in 2016.

So as the 3 of us were bobbing aimlessly about and today’s discussion was about which country we’d all prefer to live in. (Tahiti was unanimous.)
Paul says OUCH …….do I have a red mark here, pointing to his chest and shoulders? I said no. 30 seconds later Marco started yelling oh my face oh my face. We looked and his face was fine. Paul was rubbing and dunking and rubbing…Marco was rubbing and very upset. Then the mystery pain hit me……..under both arms from the elbows to the armpits and my torso. We were in agony. Marco jumped into his car and said we have been stung by“sea lice” go home and take HOT shower.

So, back at Sunset Studios we had showered and took Benadryl and Paul was ok, I was in much pain. I took 3 ibuprofen and that helped a bit, but enough was enough. Off to Dr’s office. I was given some antihistamine tablets and told of “sea lice” which are really not lice. They are microscopic creatures that are the larvae of tiny jellyfish. (we have seen no jellyfish on this trip and I think that we have never seen a jellyfish in aruba)
Dr advise us to use white vinegar and avoid hot shower as that makes it worse.

And………I was stung on the shoulder by a wasp this morning too.

It was one of those days.

I did take a 2 hr nap this afternoon. It was well earned.

Dinner……..was at Bavaria again. Our friends Ginny and Ed really wanted to try Bavaria and we were glad to dine there again. It was wonderful and the schnitzel and beer selection is great.

Alhambra………in and out in 15 minutes.
We are now below break even.

Tomorrow, is definitely LaCabana with a dip or 2 in the ocean there.

This is our 50 something visit to Aruba and NEVER have had this issue in the ocean before. Painfully bizarre.
It's bad enough when you get bit by something you see, let alone something that you can't see...what a terrible experience!

Oh Andrea you are making me feel guilty I only went to Bavaria once. Although I did have them on the list last September but their website stated they were closed so I didn't want to chance paying for a cab. I tried to contact peter but no answer.

thanks for all of the kind words all

    Wed May 9

We are beginning to lose count our days. All day long we thought today was Thursday.
Today was beautifully sunny with an occasional passing cloud. The winds were constant which felt great.

Sunset Beach Studios are nice, however our unit’s patio is a breeding den for mosquitos. Don’t know why except there are tons of plans but I have not found any standing water. It takes great skill to get in and out without letting the little boogers in.

We spent the morning under some shade on Eagle Beach…..in and out of the water.
The water is pretty cool but we spend lots of time in the water. We went to LaCabana’s pool for a swim and spent some time there with

Dinner tonight was eat in chili and cornbread and salad.

A donation was made at the Marriott Casino and we were up a tiny amount at the Alhambra.

Tomorrow we are heading to Reflexions Beach Club for a day at that beach, lunch and much frolicking in the sea

I love when losing track of the days happens....as long as it doesn't happen in reverse! Enjoy Reflexions today!
