Checked out today and was chatting with the cute young office girl and she made me laugh when we were discussing the bikers the other night. She said since Covid there are more bikers just so they could do more things outdoor. She said she is part of the group, and she also told us Aruba has strict rules regarding the time of the revving the engine is from 5-7pm, but during Holiday they let the rules slide. She said they are all connected through an app that the police also monitor and know where they are at and keep an eye on the group. She explained how she enjoys the group and it made me laugh cause my husband would proabably had been part of it when he was her age

We took a cab to LaCabana and the driver indicated that Aruba is lifting all Covid restrictions including mask mandate as of February 1st. I had not heard that anywhere else, but he seemed well informed about US politics and the islands. The check-in process was smooth with no one in line. Last year I left a necklace in my room after I headed to the airport and when I contacted the resort they indicated they were not doing any mailings due to Covid but stated they would hold it for my return. I was not expecting them to have it, but thought I might as well ask. To my surprise within less than 5 minutes they were handing me my necklace. Wow now that is great customer service! Our room was ready so we were able to unpack and head out to lunch. We headed to The Local for a burger. They were great but also very filling.

That's so cool about your necklace. Local Store is one of our favorites.

Our plane was the only one that was arriving at that time so social distancing getting through the airport was no issue. Of course per Andrea's instructions we did not look at any of the people in the departure area. lol We did stop at the duty free. Last year that was the only area that was crowded this year it was empty. Only a few on our plane stopped to buy. So I was wondering if they are new to the island and don't realize the larger tax on boose outside of the airport or maybe don't drink or going to all inclusive. But we got ours And on our way. We stop and had a drink at the renassance hotel went to the casino and won a little money. Then we headed to Pincho's. We weren't that hungry since we ate on the plane, but was hoping to get an appetizer. We were excited to find out they opened their bar open again and brought the bar menu of apps back. They did not have it last year. We had their grilled shrimp and tenderloin skewers. They were really good. Called it an early night since we were up since 3am.

Love the new news for aruba entry since we are both vac and boosted. Would have loved not to have dealt with that addditional stress.

    Have fun. Enjoy

LaCabana wifi has been down the last couple days so I am just getting caught up with emails for work and personal. We have been doing a lot of walking since we were shut in's at home before we left due to the cold weather. We missed a couple days of heavy snow in the Midwest. We are down to our last couple days on the island so we are soaking up the great weather, beach time and good food. We ate the other night at Gianni's and had their pasta that is stirred into the big cheese reel along with their meat balls. It was fantastic. We knew from previous experience that the portion size is large, so we planned a second meal at the resort and added shrimp. Which made a second great meal. Last night we ate at Las Rambas and I had the short ribs that are always amazing, and my husband had the anniversary special for $35. The special included a large salad (or soup) Red snapper (or tenderloin) wich came with a side of potatoes and vegetable. You also get a large piece of carrot cake for dessert. It was a great meal. Today was an easier day and headed to Bugaloe for a casual dinner with a grouper salad and a mediterranean sandwich, whcih was also really good. LaCabana has a new dessert store in the resort whcih has amazing desserts especially the cheesecakes!!! We need to keep up with the walking with all the good food on the island.

Sadly, we are already discussing what we need to do before departure. Of course United is emailing everyday preparing us This is the first time we have to test to get back to the US, and just realized we are not sure of the process. Does it work in the same manner as arrival? Do we upload our results on the Aruba site?

make your appointment for the antigen test ...it is upstair at Lacabana across from the owner's lounge.
test 1 day before you leave and you will get the results within a few hours.
print it or have it on your phone.
be prepared to show it at check in at the counter
a well as signing an attestation form.

some of the airlines do have an online attestation form.

it is a much easier process.

we tested upstairs at Lacabana at noon on a Wednesday and had our results b4 dinner time on same day.
