    hopefully by now all is good and you are boarding!

    so the airport personnel in AUA wait it out?!

    Oh no! So sorry. Can’t believe they couldn’t send an empty plane from a closer location! Hope things turn around quickly for you and you begin to enjoy your vacation.

    Just boarded.
    AUA extended the curfew for us.
    The ground crew here in Jamaica has been here since 6:00 am and stayed to get us out.

    I’ll update more about the emergency landing another time.

    They looked at ORD, IAH, and EWR; all United hubs. EWR was the quickest option.

    That happened to us once a few years ago. We were flying from Syracuse to Atlanta, and lost an engine. We immediately headed to the nearest airport, which was Knoxville. Had to stay overnight and flew out the next day. Like you, we landed safe and sound. Tough way to start a trip.
