    Day 10- Thursday, June 23, 2022

Last Full day, so sad. It’s been a real blast and wonderful to get back here after not coming in 2020 and 2021.

We got up this morning and decided to get a few things done. We wanted a good walk so we walked down to Scotts Brats and Eduardo’s. Deb got the fruit bowl from Eduardo’s and I got the sausage, egg and cheese sandwich. Both good and we started to walk back. We stopped in The Juggling fish and picked up a couple of t-shirts like we always do. Walked back down to the Ocean Club and got in the car and headed to Superfood. I needed to pick up some hot sauce to bring back for myself, my son and my friend. Left there and headed over to the gas station down from Wendy’s. I knew we had really wasted getting the rental car this time, we were lazy and didn’t go far at all. I filled it back up for just over $25. Next time, unless we have more places to go, we can do cabs much cheaper but I have always loved having a car because it gives you the flexibility to just go.

Came back spent some time soaking and downing a few remaining Chill’s. Headed over to Waves for lunch. Our friend Gabriel wasn’t there but the food is always good and its quick. Deb got the lobster roll which she loved. I got the calamari appetizer. I remember that the portion is large so I at that and shared Debs fries. All good with a happy hour set of drinks and back to the beach.
The crowd has really picked up today. Many more occupied palapa’s and more foot traffic along the beach. We stayed out longer today, we didn’t have any specific reservations, we planned to stay out and come up, take showers and just wing it for dinner.

We finished up our snacks we had bought along with a couple of cocktails on the balcony. We didn’t head out until around 8pm. We walked down to the Holiday Inn and then headed up the street. Like I said, the crowd has really picked up, many more people here now. We decided we would just grab a pizza at Casa Tua. We got there and the entire place was full. They have a larger area now so only had to wait a few minutes to get a table. Despite the crowd, the service was still good, pizza and a glass of chianti for Deb and we were out for less than $28.

We did have a very awkward and frustrating part to our dinner. There was a couple behind Deb that she over heard the man being very verbally abusive to the woman. It wasn’t long before I could hear some of what he was saying. It was strange, she wasn’t upset, just letting it roll right over her. I tried to look very close at her without being obvious, I just wanted to make sure I didn’t see any signs of physical abuse. It became apparent that this was probably the norm. He was a big guy and looked irate. We were about done and checked out when he stood up, stumbled a bit and we could see a bucket of Balashi’s he had finished. He went to the bathroom. I made sure he wasn’t on his way back and as I passed her I said, to her “you deserve better than this”. It just made me sick to my stomach to listen to some of what he said, Deb knew he was drunk and we didn’t want a confrontation because we knew nothing would happen to him but we were more afraid of what he might do to her if he got called out in public. We can only pray that this poor woman can some how get away from him. It’s still bothering me.

Back to the room and the reality of the end becomes obvious as the suitcases are pulled out and everything starts to go back in them. Luckily we don’t have an early flight so we should have time to get some breakfast, return the car and still have time to get there and do our Global Entry interviews.
Thank you all for traveling with us on this trip. We appreciate you all taking the time to read our reports and hopefully they have been somewhat helpful and a bit entertaining. Can’t wait to come back next year and do it again!

The experience with the verbally abusive man was sad indeed.
Mean drunks are the worst. He is probably no nicer when sober.
    Makes me sick.

Thanks for the terrific trip reports. We had a great time on your vacation!
I’m really glad you said something privately to the verbally abused woman. It may just be the wake up call she needs to acknowledge that there is a problem.
‘We’re right behind you to the Ocean Club on July 4. I’m not looking forward to the crowds but with so many educators in our family this is the good week with time off for everyone to come. Mike and I got spoiled by coming in May and October when it’s not so crowded.
‘Thanks again for sharing your Aruba adventure. We really enjoyed it!
