I should probably try beach walking and this way I can secure my palapa since i usually don't get to the beach until 1030am and then I end up all the way in the back. I usually walk between 630am-730am.

When you walk on the beach are you wearing sneakers or those rubber beach shoes or which do you recommend?

How far do you walk to and towards?

How far can you get towards the high rise I believe maybe Divi Phoenix?
I have worn sneakers & walked on the beach, but usually walk barefoot on the beach down at the water's edge. I had a plantar fasciitis issue and the foot Dr told me always use sneakers with inserts, unless you are on the sand so I try my best to do just that.

From La Cabana facing the ocean you really can not walk far on the beach to the right, just to the end of Amsterdam Manor. You can get in the water and swim a bit, or climb the rock and walk over it with shoes, but it's not a straight beach walk.

We go to the left, toward Paradise Beach Villas and walk the beach down to Casa Del Mar - you can go further of course, but I can't.

    Monday 8/20

Up early, Jason got up and hung on the balcony with me I made him about 7 eggs with ham & cheese and 2 bagels with cream cheese. Yup he's 16! Met my SIL on the beach and went for a short walk, then plopped my butt in a chair for a nice long morning read & soaked in some sun. The kids went & played racquetball then met us on the beach a few at a time. The older ladies decided to say in their rooms for some rest.

We spoke to a great lady on the beach who rents her E unit almost every year and may be interested in selling. Perfect, because my SIL may be interested in buying it. Having her mom here in a 1 BR is proving a little difficult and she would like to have an actual second BR.

Pool for bingo & frozen happy hour, more reading, then the good happy hour with my favorite island band - Equator Band! Love them! Drinks flowed, partied a bit with some long time La Cabana lovers and then up for showers while my SIL and her mom went to Nafanny for massages. We made a late reservation at Faro Blanco (the restaurant at the California Lighthouse) so we didn't get to see that beautiful sunset view, but they got their massages in so that was good.

The food was really good. Veal Osso Bucco, Filet Mignon, chicken & tortellini ala vodka, chicken parm, chocolate mousse, Italian cheesecake, etc. It was all delish!

Back to Glitz for a quick stop - like super quick. Brianna was up $40 & I was up $50 in a matter of minutes so we bolted! I don't find that the norm at night. Slots are usually better during the day. It was late anyway - around 11:30 when we came back to the room to lounge & watch some TV before bed.

We did sign up for the vow renewal but I have to confirm the date. My email confirmation says Tuesday (today) but online it says Wed the 22nd. Hmmmmmm Gotta love Aruba!

the ladies were happy with nafanny?
    I hear wonderful reviews.
Paul saw her many years ago (maybe 10) as he threw his back out in aruba and was quite a mess.......til she fixed him right up.

you guys play dominos? (chicken foot or train?)
re: your game playing............you folks need to move in to my neighborhood when you are old enough.
I love that you guys play LCR, Uno, cards etc every night!

    good family fun!

7 eggs ..........ya, it gets worse.
pretty soon you will have 2 big teen boys and will not be able to keep them full.
when Kevin was a teen, there were no such things as leftovers in our fridge.

I just love your family time. How wonderful and special that you get to all be together! When you are out on the beach, can you look and see if there is a vendor set up with umbrellas and chairs right past Amsterdam Manor? Apparently, there was last fall, but I didn't see them the last time that we were there. I have friends coming to Aruba on a cruise. They usually go to Amsterdam Manor, but since they don't rent to outsiders any more, they were wondering about the vendor just past there. Thanks!!
