Family returns for 10th Aruba trip- July 17-25th

I will start my trip report now, as every visit to Aruba now MUST start about 72 hours prior to departure.

After missing last year due to the Pandemic and all of the uncertainty of travel, our family is returning to Aruba this week for the 10th time.
We have been doing this annual trip, since my oldest granddaughter was born and she is soon to be turning 10 years old (yes, one year she went twice for those of you trying to do the math).

The trip now consists of 11 of us in total. My wife Ann and I, our older daughter, Jamie and her husband Brett and their two daughters Emory (almost 10) and Sienna (almost 8) and our younger daughter, Stacey and husband Adam along with their wild son Dylan (2 1/2... his 2nd trip to Aruba). Also, Jamie's in-laws Marla and Joe always join us now after purchasing a timeshare at the Marriott Aruba Surf Club a couple of years after we started going to Aruba. We book two 2 bedroom Villas at the Surf Club and they are usually very accomodating to put us on the same floor in the same building making it easier for the girls to run back and forth from Pop-pop and Grammy's room to Mimi and Pa's room!
The kids enjoy this trip so much, as do all of us and are very excited to be going back after missing last year (only 3 more sleeps till we go).

All of the adults had our Covid tests at local Walgreens today (we are all in the NJ/ NYC area) and got our results back within an hour...all negative (we are all vaccinated). YAY.

I received my call from the Marriott Surf Club arrival specialist today, AKA the person who tries to book you for a timeshare presentation (or owners update). She was very nice and answered my questions, particularly about the wearing of masks. She said that the Surf club is still requiring wearing of masks in public indoor areas at this time. Good to know. I declined the offer for doing a timeshare presentation as my wife and I are at the Chairman's level within Marriott Vacation Club and are not interested in any more timeshares (or spending 2 hours of our vacation time for $175 in "experience bucks).

I also confirmed today with "Vanessa in Paradise", one of the water sport vendors on the Marriott beach, that she has reserved an umbrella for us for each day of our trip, starting Sunday, in the first row by the water. No need to wait on lines to reserve a Palapas or get up at the crack of dawn to reserve chairs by the Surf Club pool (yes, people really do start waiting at 5am to get prime spots by the pool)!

Will start packing tomorrow and finish our Aruba Groceries to Go order to be delivered upon our arrival on Saturday.

    Jay, see you there soon!

One more sleep until Aruba! All is going well with ED cards done, grocery order submitted and packing started. I'm still working today and am busy before vacation so I will pack later. I'm encouraged by Jay's easy trip thru the airport in Aruba yesterday. Although we're traveling on a Saturday, hopefully it will go smoothly for us as well.
I just found my Olympus Tough Camera (which was buried in a closet) to take on the trip. I'm so happy I found it. This is a waterproof camera that I have used all over the world including in the Dead Sea in Israel, to take great pictures in the water. Having this to use with my grandkids will be a lot of fun. They even hold it and film videos as they go down the water slide for great POV action.

Its so freakin' HOT here in NJ. Its 95 degrees now with a real feel temp of over 100! It will be great to get to cooler more comfortable weather in Aruba tomorrow!

We went to Aruba in July a few years ago because it was stinkin' hot in Toronto. It was the first time we ever got off the plane in Aruba and felt cool!!

looking forward to your "Aruba Story"
    safe and easy travels tomorrow

hot? try living in Florida in July!
I really cannot complain though. January and Feb were pretty chilly and I said that I would not complain about our summer heat.
    so, my mouth is shut.

Safe flight tomorrow! See you soon. I am guessing you will have a little more time in the Aruba airport on Sat than I did on Thursday but I hope I am wrong.
Trip 33 begins on July 15.

It's stinkin' hot in Connecticut too but it's the humidity that's really making it unbearable. You know that old saying "it's thick enough to cut with a knife"? That's what it felt like when I left the office today.

Safe travels tomorrow and enjoy that cool weather and beautiful breezes. My app says it’s 82 degrees in Aruba. Much more comfortable than the 90s we’ve been getting. Have fun!
