What a shame your evening was ruined. I have heard mixed reviews about Old Man and the Sea. Thanks for the warning!

Horrible dinner experience and big taxi fares on top of that... so sorry for the disappointment.

sorry to read that you folks had such a bad experience.
what did the manager have to say?
She was very apologetic. We explained the lack of drinks, inattentive wait staff, and showed her the horrible food. Several times she asked if she could bring us our drinks. This was now about an hour, 15 minutes after we ordered them. We told her no, we just wanted to leave. She called us a taxi, and we had to sit there for 30 minutes, waiting for it, which was awkward. We are pretty easy going and have never called the manager over, but we were really fed up with the issues that we were dealing with. When you pay $75.00 for a meal, you should be able to eat it, even if it isn't great.

Wow, very disappointing! Its no fun when a dining experience is ruined but the time lost is really frustrating on top of it. Hoping today goes much better.

I just cannot understand why there is no mention of "price fixe" on the menu.
Osyth (the owner) and the staff needs to gets things corrected.

With all this talk about luxury tourism, there are a lot of places that need to get their act together. Too many places are going way downhill in my opinion.

I am sorry you had such a bad experience. I love that you stood your ground. People really need to say something when the experience is subpar or else they think they(restaurant, hotel, etc) can continue to do business that way. You did the right thing. I once wrote a bad, but truthful review about a place in St. Maarten. The owner asked me to remove it because it will hurt his business. I told him 'no' because if he wants his business to do well, he needs to make changes. I won't lie or lie by omission.

Actually, a lot of the dishes on the website weren't offered. We were never given a menu. The waiter told us that there was a 3 course dinner menu. He then read about 15 items, including appetizers, entrees, and dessert from an iPad. He then asked us which 3 we wanted (while we tried to remember everything he said). He never told us the price. I had to ask how much it cost. He said $65.00 and $75.00 but didn't tell what costs more. I had to ask for clarification.

    that is absolutely ridiculous
this is a restaurant that used to be "one of the ultimate experiences"

when Osythe opened the restaurant it was absolutely magnificent.
the whole experience was extraordinary...from the gorgeous china to the lovely setting to the delicious view.
I am so disappointed for you and Tom.
it should have been a magnificent experience.
