Sounds wonderful! We get nice fresh crab here but it is getting very expensive. At New Years it was $40 for 2 small containers that weighed under a pound. I made just 4 cakes for us but they were delicious.

I'm really enjoying your trip report. It was nice to read all the threads so far in one day as i was playing catch up.

I had a feeling We R Cuba would close. There were so many mixed reviews about them and then the air conditioner issue. I'm glad Twist Of Flavor is still there and I think they will continue to do well. I've gone there for breakfast to try their Dutch Pancakes which were yummy. I also went to their Monday food and wine pairing which I enjoyed but have yet to eat dinner there. There is this pasta dish I wanted to try which has grouper, shrimp, small lobster tail. Also this Lobster dish that they bake in the oven with gouda cheese.

At Chalet I had the lobster thermodore and it was decadent and very filling. I also love their steaks cuts especially the NY Strip.

Glad you enjoyed Quinta De Carmen. I believe I dinned there 3 times in the past. I was ok with the meals but was kind of frustrated with the up sell on the last visit. It might just have been the waiter I had. I order a Manhattan with makers Mark and he suggested another brand more pricey. I order a glass of red wine. I'm fine with house wine or something not too expensive and wine glass is usually not too expensive in aruba. He came out and said no let me get you a glass from my favorite bottle its something special and it ends up costing twice the amount I usually pay for a glass of wine. So I got annoyed and never returned.

    Continue to enjoy your trip.

I'm finally back to my trip report. We moved on Friday from Costa Linda to Renaissance Ocean Suites. I spent two days trying to get my tablet to connect to the internet. My phone connected right away, but neither one of our tablets connected. There was no way that I could manage writing my trip report with my phone, so I posted a few short responses to some threads and posted a few pictures on facebook. The people at the front desk couldn't figure out the issue, but a young, tech savy guest came to my rescue, so now we are up and running.

Thursday - Thursday was our last full day at Costa Linda and we decided to hang around the resort. They were having Italian Night at Water's Edge, so we made a reservation. They bring in a group of young dancers for this, who dance folk dances, and then change into Carnival costumes and dance Carnival dances. I ordered the scampi and Tom got the Red Snapper filets. Both meals were very good. The entertainment was a lot of fun. At one point, they came into the audience, looking for volunteers to dance with them, so I thought, what the heck, I've already embarrassed myself several times this week, so I might as well join in the fun. I danced several dances with them, and had a blast. It was a great night.

Friday was moving day, so we packed that morning and stored out stuff. Bully picked us up at 2:00, so we hung out on the beach until he arrived. Our room at Renaissance was ready around 4:00, so we sat by the lagoon until we checked in. After we unpacked and got settled, we decided to check out the new bar, It's 5:00 Somewhere, at Renaissance Marketplace. The drinks there are POTENT. Our drinks were made by two differnet bar tenders, and we both had to ask for them to tone them down. Even after that, they were really strong. This place is kind of cool, but really loud. They have speakers all around the top of the gazebo, and they blast the music. You can hear it as you walk around the marketplace. This is a fun place, but not a place to go to if you want to enjoy some conversation. We hadn't eaten since breakfast, and we were really feeling the strong drinks. If I had drank another, someone would have had to carry me back to the room.

We decided that we needed to eat to soak up the alcohol, and ended up at Hung Paradise. I ordered Andrea's favorite tomato soup and the beef sate appetizer. Tom got the loempia (HUGE eggroll) and the sweet and sour pork, with a huge serving of rice. It was all delicious, and more food than we could eat. It was also the cheapest meal that we've had so far. We both agreed that this is going to be an annual stop for us.

Afterwards, we strolled around the marketplace, and visited some of the vendors and shops. On the way back to the room, we decided to check out the location of the first floor room that we rented for next week. We walked around there, found the room, and were discussing the exit door situation to use to go to the beach, when security showed up. Now, we had only been there about 1 minute. We chatted for a little while, and told him that we were timeshare owners, and that we were moving down her next week, and we were looking for the room. He told us that someone had called him and said that there were suspicious people outside their room, in the bushes. We got a good laugh out of that. We talked with him for a whiie, and he did escort us back to the other side. I imagine that he went back to guests that we scared and told them that all was ok. We've been joking that we'd only been here 5 hours and had already gotten in trouble, and I'm referring to Tom as Peeping Tom.

Yep, I expect to see posters with our passport pictures in the lobby and at the pool bar

We spent the day at the lagoon on Saturday. It was a very busy day, with three cruise ships in town, and a constant stream of cruisers walking by. A few helped themselves to a dip in the lagoon. I'm sure that they were from the ship because they were telling us about their cruise. Oh well....
The resort is very busy, and will get much busier with kids this Friday, with the start of President's Week.

We walked down to Barefoot for dinner, my favorite restaurant. I had my favorite Aruba meal, Caribbean Grouper, which was as good as always. Tom had Garlic Shrimp, and said that this was his favorite meal of the trip. I just love it there. We walked back to Rennaisance afterwards, and sat on the balcony and enjoyed the evening.

We noticed at Barefoot that we weren't seeing any planes coming in. Only one took off the entire time that we were there. We found out about the fake bomb threat after we returned from dinner. Some idiot made a joke about a bomb at the airport and shut the whole place down. Planes had to be diverted to Curacao.

We woke up early on Sunday and took the 7:15 boat over to Renaissance Island. We had their wonderful breakfast, and enjoyed a beautiful day, relaxing and floating in the water. All of the floats and snorkel equipment are free to guests now, and people really took advantage of it. We stayed for 9 hours, and loved every minute of it.

We showered and walked to West Deck for dinner. We ordered our usual Balashi Grouper Fingers platter and a side of fries. I ate three and Tom ate nine. There was no room for dessert. We walked aroung Renaissance Marketplace for a while, and listened to the entertainers on the stage. Later, we walked back to Renaissance and sat by the pool, enjoying the warm breezes. Another perfect day in paradise.

That is nice to be able to walk to Barefoot, West Deck from there. What's next a walk to Pinchos? You can do it!

OMG Andrea, I cracked up when I saw this!

The lagoon has some gunk growing in the bottom, in about 2/3 of it. Also, the water is a little low, but it's still nice to sit around.

We always walk to Pinchos. We are going there on Valentine's Day, and we'll be walking. We just got back from a long walk around downtown.
