Our flight on SWA from Orlando was packed 95%.
Paul and I had a seat between us as did the row across from us.
Those were the only 2 empty seats on the plane.
The flight was smooth and I did not have a seat kicker behind me which was glorious.

The airport was as crowded as I have ever seen it………the arrival area at immigration was packed and there were over 200 upstairs in line for the escalator. There were 7 planes at gates.
It took us well over an hour to deplane and go thru immigration. Our luggage was waiting for us and we got our bags and off to the Setar booth where I got my sim card activated. $28 for a lot of data. Any calls we make will be thru Skype.

Rental car experience at Tropic was smooth and efficient!
Both Hans and Denis were off today as it was a perfect day for them to watch soccer.

Check in at LaCabana was easy but not so quick. Only GiGi was working the front desk and there were probably 2o of us in line and the process was long.

We got settled in our room and sat and had a cup of coffee…….. yup, not a drink, but coffee.

Drove over to Superfood in pouring rain, but it lasted only 10 minutes.
Ran thru Superfood and if any of you are familiar with Filenes Basement Wedding Dress sale…..that is what SuperFood was like at 7pm tonight. It was a poop show.

Back to LaCabana, we had sandwiches and a takeout salad.

Currently 8:33 and Paul is snoring loudly and I am getting ready to brush my teeth and get under the covers too.

The sewerage treatment facility stinks the worst that I have ever smelled…………we could smell it in the area near the LaCabana Parking lot and the front of Amsterdam Manor.
I had heard that they had remedied the situation…..apparently not yet.

Tomorrow……..a pool day and maybe the Flora store.
I had not thought about Filene's in ages. I forgot all about that place.

I read online something about a leak from the sewage treatment plant, but I do not know if is true or not.

I call it “pockabook” too LOL. I’m with Paul on the books. I can’t bring myself to digital reading. I’m tortured enough working on a computer all day.

Have a WONDERFUL trip with lots of floating.

Ditto that.... and when I'm done with the book I simply leave it in the lobby for the next person who wants it!

    Friday December 02, 2022

A glorious partly sunny and breezy day.
A few spits of rain here and there, just enough to say “did you feel that?”

We spent the morning poolside and in the pool.
We met up with some friends from MA who are now here at LaCabana for 4 weeks!
They spent a few days prior at Amsterdam Manor.

I tried to post a few photos earlier, but unlucky.
I will try to do google photos again, but I am pretty unlucky with that as well.

We came in from the pool at around 2 pm and then rode to the Flora store which was packed with shoppers buying their Christmas decorations. The store is lovely. We bought nothing….we have been downsizing our Christmas decorations so the last thing we need is more. All that is put out at our house are our Dept 56 Dickens Village and a few Lladro Christmas pieces and my mom’s ceramic tree and nativity.

Back in time to make our dinner reservation at the Italian Terrace next door for dinner.
Paul and I both had Caesar Salads and lasagna. Delicious. We got talking to others seated near us (the folks we know staying at LaCabana) and never saw the sunset. Oh well

A quick stop at LaCabana to put our leftovers in the fridge, gather up some $ and off to the Alhambra. We actually had a few bonus jackpots and then cashed in our winnings and came back here for some decaf coffee and SuperFood pound cake! Now both in our jammies and I am ready to work on a few birthday and get well cards.

Tomorrow we plan on being poolside with the masses of soccer fans who will be undoubtedly be screaming and cheering on the Dutch and the USA teams. When I am not in the pool, no I will not be watching soccer. I will be reading the latest Stuart Woods book on my ipad if the sun’s glare is not bad.

My list of GERD foods/beverages has grown. Now absolutely NO coconut rum or pineapple or pineapple juice. I guess I am a titos vodka martini person again… less calories too than the coconut rum and juices.

I believe that tomorrow night will be Hung Paradise downtown. (finally)

Also too….Amsterdam Manor is beautifully lit with very pretty Christmas lights.
If you are in Aruba, drive by at night. It is breathtaking.

Ok now off to try google photos and make some cards

    Let's see if this

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.
