Wow, that’s quite the update! I’m surprised at a shelter in place order? Plus the casinos being closed is a big deal. At least people are getting prepared and it sounds like the island is taking it seriously. Hope you have enough games for the kids in case you get stuck indoors.

Shelter in place does not surprise me. Those road flood so quickly and at night it could be difficult to see. They don't want to be out there recusing stranded motorist. Closing the casinos keeps people from venturing out.

Yes the Ritz casino was open for slots...etc. The Marriott was open 100% as they called in their employees a few hour ago. That said I walked thru and saw more people not gambling in a casino than I have ever seen!!!! It was like a social hour over there...hundreds of people not gambling! NOT one blackjack table actually running so I walked our almost as quickly as I entered.
Just finished trip 36 and have trip 37 Booked.

    June 29 Wednesday

I forgot to post this last night.

The weather forecast BAD, so we got an early start.

The sun was out at 8 am, apparently just to fool us.

We got the kids to the beach and the parents went off to Tres Trapi area fishing.

By 9:30 it was apparent that the day was heading down the crapper.

A closure of most things happened at 2 pm.
A shelter in place happened at 6pm

We all went back to our Airbnb and called it a day………….but wait…the sun peeked out, so Paul and I went ahead with the 1 pm meet up with Jay and family at the Ritz outdoor bar.
It was a wonderful hello and it was very nice to meet them after all these years!

Dinner was hot turkey sandwiches here and then we were huddled in for the night.

All in all the storm was………..a dud! (which was good)
A lot of rain. Very little wind.
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
The stars were out by 10 pm

    That’s about it .

So happy to hear things are back to normal. Keep us posted on the Aruba trade winds. We have always been told when a storm passes the island it sucks the breeze away as it moves. This storm was different as it passed to the south. Curious about how long it takes for the breeze to get back to normal.

Enjoy the rest of your stay and safe travels back to Florida.
