Safe travels tomorrow. Hoping for an easy Saturday travel day out of Aruba. Thank you for taking us along and for the great updates!
July 1, Friday
I have to say that I believe that we have never been in Aruba in July or March. I can now cross July off my “never list”
Today was a typical Aruba day………wind, sun, some clouds, and no rain…or at least where we were.
Of course, I am stressing about packing/unpacking and being disorganized.
But the big bags will go on top of the dining room table when we get home and it will take us a day or 2 to pick thru them and put stuff either in the wash, in our Aruba box or wherever their appointed place may be. We have a large Rubbermaid container that we keep in a closet with things like the pacsafe, casino player cards, snorkel gear and beach/cruise travel stuff.
We spent the day at LaCabana. As owners we are allowed access to the pool and other amenities even though it is not our weeks………if occupancy is below 85%. Tomorrow, occupancy will be at 85+% so it is time for us to go!
Our family 2 thumbs up for Eduardos at LaCabana’s smoothies and their Acai bowls.
I am not a berry eater, so don’t ask me. I only eat bananas and apples, sometimes pineapple….period!!
We spent much time in the pool, not as much time as at home, but still about 2 hrs a day here. We did numerous hours at the beach, Eagle and Surfside and loved every moment at both. Paul’s sore back is screaming about the long walk on the sand at Eagle, but he will survive.
We tested (home tests) all of us negative for our trip here and tested this morning for our trip home…..all negative. YAY.
The kids went downtown to Dutch Pancake place and enjoyed every bite.
Paul and I met Patti and our beloved CP Jones for dinner at Madam Janette.
Dinner was delicious, the company was better.
We did get to visit and finally meet Jay……….Aruba4ever and Tracy and CJ, and that was fun!
I believe that when Jay and T retire, they will both work at the Ritz as greeters or bartenders.
We did get a chance to meet up and have dinner with our friends Amy and Adam and loved our visit.
We did get a chance to have dinner with our friend Kathy (ARF Animal relief Foundation) AKA Sugar on our forum.
It is always fun to see folks in Aruba. We are blessed to know so many kind folks.
Casino wins tonight did allow us to close out our week losing only about $200. I call that almost a win.
Hint…………..if traveling with another couple (son and daughter in law and kids) give them SPACE and let them do what they want. Make NO plans unless they are willing.
We did it all right!! We gave them space, options and independence. Funny thing is they did choose to hang with us majority of the time. We did not want to be a burden to them…………..We did really enjoy the grandkids and enjoyed the fact that they wanted to be with us, especially in the pool or ocean.
They had a car rental. They came and went as they pleased. We always caught up with each other and nobody pissed each other off. Shocking right?
The boys were wonderful, but exhausting.
There were a few fits pitched………………refusing to get out of the water at Tres Trapi and wanting to snorkel for another hour, refusing to get out of the pool at 8 pm to go to bed…..that kind of stuff. When they are hungry FEED THEM anything. A hungry child is a “HANGRY child. “ Boy can they eat!!! After snorkeling at Tres Trapi and when the tantrum was finished, the 6 yr old polished off an $8 bag of Doritos. He ate like someone had a gun to his head.
That is all and I will post a report of Saturday airport experiences.
We are YELLOW and plan on arriving at 10 am.
Cheers!
THINK.. is it Thoughtful? Helpful? Inspirational? Necessary? Kind? sidtm
Your family found the perfect balance for traveling together which made it a special time for all. That’s not always easy to accomplish! Safe travels today I’ll miss your trip reports.
I enjoyed reading about your adventures and delighted to know all went well with the little ones (who are adorable!). Sorry I missed you this trip. Safe travels today!
Safe travels to you, Paul and the family. It's been great getting to read your reports and share your trip with you.
Be safe today. So glad you made great memories. Sounds like you missed La Cabana though! Lol. But you tried something new which is always good and you were all together having fun! Yay! Keep us posted on today’s experience.
Omg that’s awesome. Usually 3pm flights (prime time) are very crowded leading up to gate. You all look great and color coordinated too! Are you all flying part of your trip home together?
