Monday Travel Day: We usually plan on trying to get as much sleep before the long day, but something always seems to get in the way and we end up exhausted. This trip was different, as we were all packed and ready to go as scheduled, ready for a good night's sleep. Well that ended abruptly at 11:30 after three hours of rest, as we both woke at the same time with eyes wide open. We now had four leisure hours to get ready before our ride to the airport.
Our Lyft ride arrived on time and we made it to our gate as the flight was starting to board without a hitch. We had a three hour layover in Charlotte, so we grabbed some breakfast to pass the time. We got a little sleep on the first leg but not nearly enough. We both watched a movie on our flight to Aruba. I had just dozed off when the stewardess was rolling by with the beverage cart, so that needed rest ended. I ordered now my tenth cup of caffeine for the day.
We landed on the island a few minutes ahead of schedule and made our way to customs. The hall was fairly empty and we were ushered to live agents, mainly because all of the Happy Flow lines were about five people deep. There were three agents on duty and we only had to wait for one couple ahead of us so we were through in minutes. We only had carry on luggage so we exited the airport with ease. There was no additional screening taking place, as others have mentioned recently. I did stop at the duty free store to price Grey Goose, which was $32.00 per liter.
Wheels2Go was waiting for us at the Digicel counter. They are always on time and waiting. We still highly recommend them.
We got our rental and wheeled into Price Smart to renew our membership and grab some groceries for the month. From there we drove through downtown and went to the condo to unload. We put the cold items away and then went to The Beach Bar for a beverage and relax for a few minutes, catching the sunset. Stopped at Super Foods to pickup a few more things and price compare between the airport duty free and Price Smart for beer and Grey Goose and then back to the condo to unload again. We were both starving so we went to Ling's Chinese restaurant for a quick dinner. We were both exhausted and the wife has a cold, so it was back to the condo. Our management company had left fresh linen and bedding on for us, so we didn't have to unpack our own for the night, which was so nice as we had had enough for the day. We crashed around 9:30 being so glad that travel day had come to an end.
If anyone has any specific questions about the island, feel free to ask. I will try to answer what I can during our travels this trip.
