Thanks for sharing with us...... I know first hand how it's easy to get caught up in doing next to nothing!

    I think I owe a few days...

Sunday was another day of sun and pool and beach. That night the new curfew hit us hard and we ended up sitting down at hooters after 8 because nowhere else could accommodate us.

Yesterday we did the Jolly Pirates. We rented the boat for a private trip with our group. About 22 of us in all went. Great day.

After the ship let us out at like 5 we spent the rest of the day at Moomba having some drinks and apps.

Then back to Divi Village for some hot tub time. All in all a good night.

Today I had to drive my cousin to the airport. She's the first of our party to depart. Always very sad to see someone leave already. It never seems like enough time.

At the beach now. I'm having a few beers and no one seems to have an issue with it. The chair guy gave me a thumbs up so I think I'll be good.

But I will say when we were Snorkeling off of Malmok yesterday the police drove through there 3 times in the half hour we were there.

It's been a bit rainy, quick bursts the last couple days. I find it refreshing.

Sorry folks... my trip reports broke down quite a bit at the end of our trip.

    Some highlights:

    • No issue drinking on the beach across from Divi Village. I did it discreetly, but police did come by on Easter to check on the locals at the beach. They seemed to leave the tourists alone.
    • We did a group dinner one night at Chalet Suisse with 21 of us. We were in a side room and all at separate tables, but we had the side room to ourselves. It was a nice time and delicious as always, I had the duck this time around. Although my dessert was subpar. I had the crème brulee and actually sent it back. It was not creamy; the texture was wrong. Friend got the fondue, and it was a big hit for the group.
    • Best meal was L.G. Smith Chophouse. We went there for Easter. A bunch of us went that night but at different times. Our group of 4 went for dinner at 7:30. I had the Wagyu ribeye, and it was delicious. And finally, I got a great dessert, the Dome. It is a chocolate mousse dessert surrounded in a chocolate shell. My Aunt had the apple pie and that was also delicious.
    • I had lunch one day at Lucy’s and then hit the Crystal. I lost a little money, but not too bad. I thought I would miss going to the casino more than I did.
    • One of our group tested positive when testing to leave the Island. She works in healthcare and had previously been vaccinated and never experienced any symptoms. She was scheduled to leave Sunday and tested on Friday. Results came Saturday and she was escorted to the quarantine hotel. She had her choice of places to go and the place she picked was had a pool and she said it was clean. It was in the middle of the island and gated, but I think it was decent. Luckily, a few of us were staying longer than she was so we were able to visit and drop off dinner and supplied. The timing was not great as stores were closed Sunday and Monday (for Easter), so she wasn’t able to order groceries or anything once she arrived. The doctor visited her on Wednesday, she explained she was vaccinated and had not experienced any symptoms and then he gave her the all-clear to leave on Thursday. Personally, the only complaint I had is that they would not let her take a second test in case of a false positive. But once the initial shock wore off, she accepted her fate, what can you do, this is part of the risks of traveling during a pandemic.
    • I left on a Wednesday on the 4:55 to Boston. Took me an hour and a half to go through the airport, and the I spent the afternoon at One Happy Bar with some others who had booked that flight. We went to gate at the stated boarding time (4:10) to find that everyone else had boarded and they were waiting for us and another couple who left the bar a few minutes after us. We got on the plane and took off early. They really should fix the announcement system or send someone down to the bar looking for people when they are going to board early. LOL

I think those are the highlights. I did learn that 18 days might have been too long. Not because I was bored or tired of the island, but because I felt like I moved there and it was my home now. I’m still adjusting to wearing pants and shoes to go to work and my tan is fading too quickly.

All in all, even with COVID and the earlier curfew, it was a great trip!

Sorry to hear one from your group tested positive! It sounds like it worked out all right though. I think that testing positive upon departure is a fear for many of us

Also, glad to hear that LG Smith was good. We always enjoyed it there but had a pretty awful experience there a few years ago and haven’t been back. It maybe time to give it another try.

Peg: This was the first time I went and it was my favorite meal of the year without a doubt. Blew Chalet Suisse away, which is my usual favorite. I will say that the service did get off to a rough start, but we came back from that with the meal.

As for service, I went to Perla D'Italia one night and had the absolute worse service ever. It was so bad that the waiter apologized when he brought the check without me even saying anything. Of course it was already after 9 (closing time), the lights were out and almost everyone had left. To top it off, they forgot to make the to-go order I placed for my friend in quarantine, even though I asked 3 times about it. Luckily the kitchen did have something made we could bring her, but not what she ordered. The food was good at Perla but not good enough to come back from that.
