Paco, the bird may treat you to a whistle or some conversation. Love when you leave and he says goodbye. Also where they have free morning coffee at Manchebo by the inside bar, if you ask for a oatmeal raisin cookie- they will treat you, they are great. They used to leave out a plate every morning but some guests would just clean it. We love the deep tissue massage there. Also some apples or fruit at front desk for guests. That new pool is awesome. Remember to sit in Queen of Saba's driftwood chair at Manchebo for good luck. That and your lucly nut, you are sure to be a winner.

Forgot about the chair!!! Think I’ll have to do that before we head over to Crystal. The Alhambra is just way too smoky and crowded worst than I ever remember. Tom was making an appointment for a deep tissue massage for tomorrow. Can’t beat Manchebo as everything is here.

    Day 7, Monday the recap
Since Tom is still staying out of the sun I just hung out at the beach in the morning. We decided to head downtown to check out the changes at Crystal Casino, now Wind Creek. I did a separate thread on it but will say here that we liked the changes, less smoky and more slot machines. Can’t go wrong. We took a break to have lunch at Lucy’s. Really good nachos and coconut shrimp with the same bartender (Kathy) from last trip. Always a good sign when places have the same staff. One of the fun things to do here is enjoy a scorpion shot. Yup, a real scorpion. Do it and you get a cool t-shirt. Since we were meeting with the group later at Local Store I thought it would be fun to do the shot, get the t-shirt and wear it to the get together figuring it would be a good conversation starter. Full disclosure, Walt was the first to do the scorpion shot last year!! I have a nice photo of the scorpion floating around in the shot and when I get home I’ll post it. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get any photos to upload while on the island

Met up with everyone at Local Store. It was a nice group and the conversation flowed freely. It was really busy but we had a table that accommodated everyone. Andrea and Paul were kind enough to give us a ride back as they were going to Alhambra. We went in briefly and both had good hits so we decided to take the money and run. As we were leaving Paul showed us his ticket with an even nicer hit!! Congrats Paul!!

I have to say our luck finally changed for the better. So a big thank you to crimms for reminding me of the lucky chair at Manchebo. Between the chair and my Djucu it worked!!!

We have just a few days left on the island but have thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. It’s especially nice to meet up with members of the forum and the Local Store was a good spot to do it.

Peg, you deserve it. We love Manchebo for breakfast too. But give Ricardos a try for breakfast. Good, price and good service right on the beach. Ask for front table. Nothing like a mimosa on the beach to get the day started. ABC happy hour uses good booze and you dont have to get both drinks at same time for the 2 for 1 H.H

I don’t know; it may be difficult to pull myself away from Manchebo for breakfast. This morning I discovered they had cinnamon rolls. Not your average cinnamon roll, but the kind made with pie pastry, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and topped with a simple icing. The kind my grandmother would make when I was little. Amazing and nostalgic!!!! We are headed to Ricardo’s for dinner today though!

Oh dear, I'm going to have to make a note about that in my travel notebook for August. That's how my grandmother made them as well!

Definitely make a note. There’s nothing like having a taste of something that you relate to happy memories. I make them on rare occasions, but this was special.
