    NOV. 2019 at Amsterdam Manor

Spent 13 days at Amsterdam Manor and it was my 30th stay at the same resort out of 39 trips to Aruba. It also happened to be Amsterdam Manor's 30th Anniversary so there were celebrations all around and gifts upon arrival for my 30th stay (see photos below of my room when I walked in!)

Got lucky with perfect weather to be able to sail around the entire island. A friend who owns a boat invited me and a few other friends for a "Gilligan's Island" tour around the island from the marina past the airport, around the horn by Baby Beach, up the wild side, and around the end by the California Lighthouse. It took about 3 hours and we were rocking and rolling past Baby Beach. No one got sick but we all got some nice waves in our faces. We anchored near Arashi and swam, BBQ'd on the boat, ate, drank and just relaxed and then did a nice leisurely ride back to the marina under a full moon. Got back to the hotel around 7:30 that night.

The next morning woke up a 5:30am to the light of the moon - so bright that I walked over to the famous tree and got some photos of the moon setting

I was stunned when I walked into my room - it was a fun surprise! But I did have balloons floating around my room for the entire trip which was weird in the middle of the night. LOL!!

The boat ride around the entire island was amazing! Apparently, it can only be done during certain weather conditions and it happened to be perfect during the time I was there. I was little uneasy about the area by Baby Beach because all of the local Captains I knew said it could be done but to "hold on for some bumps". Captain Anthony from the Tranquilo said very few people have circumnavigated around the entire island because the right conditions don't come up that often. I have been around the entire island via helicopter before but this was a fun and amazing experience to be in a boat.

I put the bouquet of flowers on my patio table every morning while I had breakfast and decided that next trip I will buy a bouquet at the store when I arrive to decorate the table - so nice to brighten things up with fresh flowers. I managed to drink all of the beer and the champagne they gave me but barely made a dent in the chocolate so I returned home with 3 boxes of chocolate. Will need to go on a diet....on Jan. 2nd. LOL!!

The other photo was taken from the boat as we passed by Reflexions and Barefoot under the full moon at night. It was a gorgeous day (well, the saltwater waves in our faces wasn't the most fun but we laughed our heads off as we were all soaked - LOL! I learned a few bad Dutch words that day. LOL!) and beautiful evening with our friends that we only get to see a couple of times a year. We ended the day with a fun group dinner at Bingo.

Hope to see you on the next trip, Ace! Happy 2020!!
