So I’m having a love hate relationship with the Renaissance. It’s nice to have such easy access to so many restaurants that we like. We also prefer the Crystal and Seaport casinos. However, the ac in the room is incredibly loud and the rooms are showing a lot of wear. The pool/beach area has no water so that means no restrooms or showers by the pool. They also have the raker going and all the hedge clippers so it is LOUD! Would you believe the Manchebo has them use hand tools. Huge difference. Plus the lagoon is yukky Ok that’s it for complaints!

    Oh poop.
Yesterday when we were waiting for you I looked at the beach lagoon area and it was gross looking.
no one was in the water.

Manchebo set a high bar. But not unreasonable high.

Does fresh water come in and out of the lagoon daily? We thought it was a little odd looking too. Although the grounds and location are great. Do you notice any day trippers- cruisers using the facilities? Just wondering.

Are you at the adult only or at Ocean Suites? I thought they added bathrooms by the pool at Ocean Suites.

It appears that the water flows freely between the open ocean and the lagoon. The first time we stayed here it was great. The last 3 times I’ve used the pool

We’re at the ocean suites. They did add bathrooms. For some reason today they have no water so nothing is working

Spent the morning by the pool while Tom headed to the casino. We met up midday and stopped at Lucy’s for nachos and coconut shrimp it was really good. From there it was a casino all afternoon. First half at the Crystal and then over to the Seaport. I give the Seaport an edge for friendliness. Tom held his own and the casino/Djucu gods were very good to me. Did you know that when you hit a jackpot it’s announced on the TV screens!

We’re both tired so I don’t imagine we’ll head out for dinner, maybe room service later. I was hoping to get to Alfies this trip but don’t think it will happen. Oh well, there’s always next year

Sorry to hear that the lagoon is gross. I heard that they dredged it this fall, so I was hoping that it would be in better shape this year. Did they get the water situation resolved? Last year, our room was in great shape, and I'm hoping that it still looks good when we get there in February.

Congrats on all of the wins. It sounds like all of you have done really well this week.

Manchebo is such a wonderful place to stay. We love Ike's , but haven't eaten at the Chophouse since it was French Steakhouse. Hopefully, we'll get to try it out on our next visit.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

I imagine that one would have to actually hit a jackpot to experience and announcement, so I can definitely say NO to that question!

The water situation hadn’t been corrected by the time I left the beach. It’s off to the lobby restroom when nature calls. There is some improvement with the lagoon. It didn’t have the green mossy type bottom. Now it’s more of a dark green weed type situation. No one has been using the lagoon. The pools however, are gorgeous.

I highly recommend the Chophouse. Their filet mignon was excellent and the atmosphere is just so relaxing.

The Renaissance has a whole different vibe from Manchebo. The entertainment by the pool is loud and more party oriented where Manchebo is more low key. Different atmospheres appeal to different guests so there’s something in Aruba for everyone.
