It has been so tough on restaurants everywhere. Many people are still not comfortable with indoor dining. I’m surprised at the restaurants in Aruba being so quiet though since there is so much outdoor dining there.

My experience has been that this time of year is always slower on the island. That combined with the increase in covid cases is keeping tourist count down as well as locals are staying home...not eating outside even. As to cost...it could be they are trying to recover but what is happening here in my area of the USA is many people left the hospitality work....owners have had to increase wages and benefits to attract workers (and they are still understaffed) and that has lead to increased menu costs, grocery costs, etc. Just a thought.

Thanks for the update. I have only bought fish to take 'home' and cook from Zeerover's. When we've gone, the people I'm with never want to wait, but 45+ minutes I would not have waited either. Maybe this year I'll get to eat there. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Finish the Thursday evening recap that I lost this morning…. We weren’t very hungry after our late lunch so just decided to wander around the strip and grab some apps somewhere. Headed down the beach walk and stopped at the Beach Bar at Playa Linda. It was almost 8 and they were closing up. They said they have adjusted their hours indefinitely. We grabbed a quick Brights
then cut through their lot to the street. Browsed around the shops a bit and ended up at Chihuahuas. Not exactly the light dinner we were aiming for as we both had burritos and margaritas. We were the only ones there so had the full attention of all the wait staff. On the walk back I suggested walking through the mall because I wanted to scout Drunks Desire, it was almost 10 and we were way too full for dessert. We found it and there were quite a few people there excited to try the place out. We decided to grab a couple to go for the next day. While waiting we chatted with the owner and her boyfriend. They were giving out glasses of bubbly to celebrate their grand opening so we joined in the celebration. We got the chocolate w red wine cake and the almond amaretto one. Said our goodbyes and headed back to OC. As stuffed as we were we couldn’t resist the temptation to take a bite of each before bed. OMG are they great!

Today we decided to have a full lazy beach day. After Breakfast at Hadicurari, hubs headed over to the Stellaris for his COVID test. He had to wait in line for about 30 minutes, did the antigen test for $40. They emailed him his negative result about 4 hours later. We walked down to Bugaloe for lunch. I had the ceviche and a salad and hubs had his usual taco wrap. Food was good, service was so so. We have learned to adjust our expectations for service there. It was one long hot walk all the way back to OC. We stayed under our palapa until sunset then headed up to room to clean up. Dinner was at Bingo as I had to have my favorite coconut shrimp. It was amazing as always and service was excellent. They were maybe half full. We came back and finished our boozy cake desserts. Now ready to call it a night. Feeling melancholy about our trip winding down but very grateful that we were able to get here.
