    Red face Roak4ever trip 1/16 - 1/23

    Whew - We made it!
We flew in from Chicago on a direct flight on American. Thanks to all of the help from the great folks on this forum, we had all of our documents ready and the process through the airport was super easy. Our flight was probably about 1/3 full only and in talking with the flight attendants, they said that has been pretty typical the last few months. We were originally booked on the United direct flight but they cancelled on us a few months ago so we moved over to American. With all of the issues, we wanted to be in the airports as little as possible. Had a slight delay out of Chicago since the plane had to be de-iced, but then we were on our way!
From the time we got off the plane until we met Bully in the pick up area was only about an hour, and that included a quick stop at duty free, which had fully stocked shelves today!
Check in at the Divi Phoenix was also very quick - we were the only ones in the lobby. We asked at the desk and they told us that occupancy was only about 50%.
Grabbed a quick dinner at Pure Beach right at the Divi and the up to the room to catch the rest of the football games.
Now, going to head to bed early and get a good nights sleep!

    Wonderful!

it is always great to read of uneventful flights and ease thru the airport.
Stocked shelves in duty free is a bonus.

    Sleep well and thanks!!

Day one, our goal was just to take it easy. Our plan was to go to the grocery store first thing and stock up. We typically go to Superfood, but thought we would try out Lings for the first time. Cab took us over to Lings..... and they were closed for Inventory! so we ended up back at Superfood anyway.
It was super busy, a little I think because Lings was closed, but also, making everyone have a shopping cart really clogged up the aisles. There were several folks that you could tell were all one family and each had a cart. Made it feel more crowded than usual.
We got all the necessary supplies and then headed back to the Divi. The cab rides were interesting - the drivers mostly all have plexiglass dividers that our driver told us the government supplied for them. And they had sanitizer in the cab that they asked us to use before entering.
we got down to the pool around 11 and it was still very quiet. We were able to grab chairs no problem and it stayed quiet most of the day. It was a beautiful, cloud free day!

We took an afternoon walk along the beach down to the Ritz and the beach is much less crowded than usual, except at the Marriott. That looked as busy as usual.
just getting cleaned up now to go grab some dinner and find a place to catch some of the the football game. And to find some Diet Pepsi - the grocery store was totally out!

Welcome to Aruba! We agree the forum folks helped us get through the airport and to Aruba so smoothly. We have been on the island for a week and hope you have an excellent stay. Although we were unable to get to see the Packers yesterday (which I am sure you are rooting for...lol). Have a great stay.
