Tracey and Jon 9th anniversary trip

We are here ready to celebrate our 9th anniversary. Lots planned and hopefully lots of good info to share. I promise to update in the morning, but the preview of today is a very nice slot win.

    Thursday - Arrival Day

We started our Thursday with a 4am shuttle ride to the airport. Flights were smooth and on time. We had a 1 hour layover in Miami. For those who ask of an hour is enough time in Miami, I will say barely. We had to change terminals and had about a 15 minute walk; taking the little tram wasnt necessary and seemed like it was out of the way for the direction we had to go. No big deal, by the time we got to our gate there was just 20 minutes till boarding. Miami Duty Free has on online ordering option so knowing we wouldnt have much time, we took advantage and our Titos met us at the gate. American let's you track your bags in real time so once boarded we watched to see if our bags made the short connection and they did at the very last minute. The crew kept talking about weight restrictions landing in Aruba and they were offering credits and a later flight. They got the volunteers they needed but I was thinking bags would be easy for them to leave behind and send on a later flight - they didnt. The feature to track bags is nice, but in my case it probably gave me unnecessary anxiety. We finally kicked it up a notch on our Miami to Aruba leg and had a few drinks to really get the vacation started.
At immigration they were sending people with online customs forms to the manned stations and handwritten cards went through the happy flow line. There were no real lines to speak of on either side but we walked off the plane with another couple and they happily flowed through the automated machine line a little ahead of us. No bags were being checked on the way out of the airport.
Our taxi driver went the traditional route through downtown - she said when there are no cruise ships she likes to go that way and she was right, no traffic and an awesome view of the coast.

Our check in at Playa Linda was easy and our room is oceanfront with a large wrap around balcony and a great view.

We went over to Pelican Pier for shrimp cocktail and ceviche. From there we headed to Carlitos to catch a little football and some wings (good flavor, but small). Enjoyed drinks and welcome backs from a couple of our favorites. Drinks of the day for me included a frozen mojito, a purple haze (a sugary fruit and vodka concoction), a couple Amstel brights, and then a bucket of chills, which I liked more than I remembered. Jon had his usual exciting bud lights.
Jon wanted to go the Holiday Inn casino which I quickly over ruled with the choice of the much nicer Hyatt casino, which continues to be my favorite. I made my first $20 last a while at the thunderstruck bonus machine but it eventually went cold. I was waiting for Jon to play out is game so I sat at a penny wheel of fortune type game and gave it a go with another $20, you know, just to kill time. Well, I got a bonus on my 3rd spin and the wheel landed on 150,000 (pennies). Watching exhausted drunk people do math was probably pretty funny, but we walked way with our initial play money and $1500! That was my first ever hand pay at any casino. Jon walked over just in time to see it. Waiting for the payout is a little unsettling - too much attention while you wait, then 3 people come over to pay it out. We played a little back then walked on the busier street side back to our room to watch more football and have a night cap.

I'm up early because this is my normal wake up time, so I'm writing this from the beach while I reserve our spot for the day. We will be beaching and day drinking and not sure what else. Saturday we have an early pick up for Sea Bob tour with water scooters at Boca Catalina in search of sea turtles!

Happy Anniversary. What a great start to vacation! I didn’t realize you had decided on PL this trip. You must be in a 2 br to have the wrap around balcony? Enjoy your stay and thanks for posting.

See what I started... Although I can’t take full credit for it. I got the idea from act1966, when he was posting. Sure do miss his posts...

Great win. I wish the wife could follow that example!

We switched to PL last minute when I saw this unit come up for rent. We are only here until Sunday and we move to the Surf Club. The 2 bedroom is nice but the balcony makes it awesome. I added a few pics.
