Another short blip....we are here. touched down at 3:10 and were at Duty Free at 3:30. Grabbed some vodka and headed out the door to meet Robin, she is the best! More details to follow. We're beat and will be calling it an early night.

Where to begin...finally settled in yesterday and ready for all things Aruba.
Preparation For Travel Day:
It’s been two years since our last trip and so long that we really lost track of what we had to bring and do before leaving the states. Of course, with the current travel regulations in place, all of which we were doing for the first time, it took some additional planning. Thankfully, we were able to get things organized over a three-day period before travel day on February 1st.
With the two-day window for testing, we chose Walgreens. I had been watching the schedules ahead of time for the Rapid ID test. A couple of weeks ago, it was hard to find appointments available. Luckily, the testing demand eased up and we scheduled for Sunday morning at 10:30. The wife received her results in 45 minutes. Mine came back three hours later. Later that evening we filled out the online ED applications. It was straight forward and easy to do. We received our green check marks within seconds! Aruba here we come!!!

Travel Day: February 1st
We had scheduled an UBER pick up for Tuesday morning at 3:50 AM, which reliability can always be a question mark at that time. The alarm went off at 2:30, and I saw that we had received notification that our flight was delayed an hour. It would have been nice to get an extra hour of sleep, but too late to adjust now.
Our driver showed up as scheduled, so off to the airport. Security lines were nonexistent, and we breezed right through. With the flight delay, we had plenty of spare time and we find that as we get on in years, a more leisurely pace isn’t so bad. We flew JetBlue through JFK, which was still showing remnants of the snowstorm that blanketed them a couple days prior. Our flights were smooth and on time and we watched a couple of inflight movies, so the time passed by quickly...all good.
We stopped at Duty Free and picked up a couple bottles of Vodka. It’s the best pricing we have seen so far and still a bargain, even if you must pay any duty fees, which we did not.
Robin was waiting for us at the exit hall. It was so nice to see her. It will be nice to catch up with her and Stu during our trip.
She dropped us off at the condo and we proceeded to unpack the condo and car. The wife worked on the condo and I the car. I knew the battery was going to be an issue, so I put it on the car charger for a while and then helped inside. We have three locking cabinet doors in the kitchen island to store our personal items and we found one of the doors damaged. It appears that a guest had pulled against the door with enough force to break the cabinet frame. We’ll have to investigate getting that repaired.
On a positive note...when we entered the condo, we found a welcoming card, a bottle of wine, with wine glasses, that were left my our management company. So thoughtful.
Once we get unpacked, we use our own lined and toiletries, but the management was nice enough to outfit our room with everything for our first nights stay. The bed was made and pillows fluffed, and the room freshly cleaned. They also turn on the A/C units and chill the refrigerator, placing a cold pitcher of water inside. This service is not part of our contract with them, but is a much welcomed courtesy. They really do a great job.
The battery wouldn’t accept a charge, so I called Robin and she took us to Price Smart to look for a battery and grab a few essentials. I picked out a battery and we went back to the condo. Unfortunately, the battery wouldn’t fit, so we were still stranded for the night. We were really tired anyway, so we had a couple of snacks and called it a night.
