Bri, wow that process and cost of palapas at the Hilton Beach makes my private umbrella rental at the Surf Club beach (right at water's edge) look like a great deal. I didn't realize that the other resorts were charging those kinds of fees for "front row" locations. I do have to say, when traveling with small kids being close to the water is very important (for us).
In any case, enjoy your stay and don't stress...you're on vacation!

    Sunday
Dinner was at Zeerover’s. I love the food there and I think it’s worth the (very long) wait. I arrived just before 6 pm and began eating just before 8. Come with patience, grab a beer and relax.

I came back to the Palm Beach area and walked around. I picked up ice cream from the Baskin Robins (it was gross). Idk where they get their cookies and cream, but they need to give it back. Walked around some more and headed back to the Hilton and hung out on the balcony. I had some welts on my face from what I assumed was a mosquito bite, but it became really uncomfortable and irritated. I checked it out in the mirror and thought I must be reacting to something I might have touched. I took some Benadryl and it went away quickly, but it was lights out after that.

    Monday
Headed out to palm beach around 8:30. I don’t consider that particularly early, but the beach has been empty until about 10 when people start to check in. The palapas still sit empty for most of the morning, though they are “reserved.” I stayed until about 12:30 then made my way to Kamini’s Kitchen for lunch. I had the curry chicken and it was delicious. They don’t make their dishes spicy unless you ask (I LOVE spicy). They added a little spice for me but it wasn’t the spice I’m used to with Caribbean Curry, but I loved it anyway.

Next, I drove down to baby beach and hung out for a bit there. I planted myself on the side closest to the entrance (to the right) under trees next to the bar (Rum Reef?). The entrance is rocky in that area but it is beautiful…and you can’t see the refinery from that part. This side was much less crowded than the other.

On the way back, I took a detour through San Nicolaas and saw some of the awesome murals. Unfortunately, I was too tired/sun exhausted/LAZY to park and walk around. I intended to stop at Charlie’s Bar but there was no parking close by. I drove around a few times (“the girls” were very present on the storefronts) and after finding no parking, decided to move on.

San Nicolaas gets a bad rep for being a “rough” neighborhood, but really, I’ve seen much worse back home. It’s all perspective, I guess.

Today, I’ll head up to Arashi and wing it from there. Until next time….

Sounds like you are off to a good start with arriving early, having lunch at West Deck. I love to stop bye West Deck whenever I arrive early in Aruba. Baby beach nice its been years since I've gone there. Enjoy your trip and keep the reports flowing!

Bri, this sounds like my kind of trip. We live in a beach town and I can get bored pretty quick just sitting on the beach. I love driving around the island and seeing everything and trying new places to eat. Thanks for keeping us with you!

    Tuesday

I went to Arashi Beach around 8:30. It was pretty empty and quiet. It got busier over the next few hours. Around 11:30, a busload of cruise-folks were dropped off, then I left.
Lunch was at O’Neil’s Caribbean kitchen in San Nicolaas. Great food, I had the curry goat.
Getting back through downtown was tough with all the traffic. The remainder of the afternoon was spent relaxing around the resort.
Dinner was at Redfish where I had my favorite shrimp.

    Wednesday (moving day)

Spent a few hours on the beach before checking out. Check out was quick then I made a stop at Superfoods for a few items for the condo.
The Oceania property is BEAUTIFUL. The studio is spacious with a great view. Sitting on the balcony and taking in the views….thinking about you know what…DINNER. (Help!) lol

I'm unable to post photos, I've tried via phone and computer but as soon as I can, I'll share them.

The only way way I have been able to post photos is if I reduce them to the smallest size when emailing them to myself, and then posting. Kind of frustrating
