    Trip Report - January 14th - January 22nd 2020!

Wow: What an excellent inaugural trip to Aruba!

All of our expectations were exceeded!

I will list a few of the highlights for your review:

    Car Rental:
Tropic rent-a-car, with Hans, was a great choice (thank you to the board). The vehicle was clean and undamaged. Hans was excellent. I highly recommended renting a vehicle to see the entire island.

    Hotel:
We stayed at the Hilton Aruba which was a beautiful and clean resort with exceptional service. I highly recommended this particular resort.

    Cell Phone:
I have a cheap Motorola Smartphone that I use for travel. I ordered a Google Fi sim card with unlimited data. From the time I exited the airplane, I had excellent cell service and data service throughout the island. Most importantly, Google Maps provided excellent door-to-door mapping throughout the entire trip without fail. I highly recommended Google Fi with Google Maps in Aruba for navigation.

    Dining Highlights:

    Wacky Wahoo:
One of my favorite meals on the island. I had the Wahoo and my wife had the tenderloin with lobster. Both the meals and the service were excellent. Call early!

    Taste of Aruba:
The highlight of our dining in Aruba. My Caribbean lobster and my wife's pasta with lobster in a truffle sauce were the highlight of our dining experience in Aruba. This is a charming little restaurant is located near the cruise port.

    Giannis Ristaurante Italiano:
I assumed, wrongly, that this would be an average meal given the convenient location to the high rise hotels. Excellent Spaghetti al Formaggio Parmigiano. The salad and rolls were fresh. Excellent service as well.

    Zeerover:
Just do it. We arrived at 11:30 am and beat the rush. The shrimp and wahoo were excellent. The ambiance is a must to experience. The price is on point. A long line was forming as we exited. Well worth the drive.

    Dushi Bagel:
Our go to spot for a quick, always fresh, bagel or breakfast sandwich in the morning. All the breakfast items were made to order and looked tasty.

    Lindas Pancakes:
Nice location for the obligatory pancakes while on vacation. The pancakes were hot and the toppings were fresh.

    Bistro De Suikertuin:
Wonderful lunch spot which featured Dutch faire. Located near the cruise port.

    Gellatissimo:
Nice, very clean, gelato location. We returned here on several evenings.

    Amore Mio:
A nice selection of pizzas and the fennel orange salad was a pleasant surprise.

    Beach bites:

Scott's Bratts and Eduardo's Beach Shack provided a quick and tasty escape for a lunch while on the beach.

    Sight-Seeing:

Baby Beach: we went to baby beach at 9am on a Monday morning. A few other folks along with a small group of school children taking swimming lessons. A must do in Aruba. Go early on a weekday, chose a shady spot under the trees and the beach is essentially yours.

Mangel Halto Beach: a nice little beach area surrounded by mango trees. We stopped here briefly on our return from Baby Beach.

Black Pearl Sunset Cruise: a wonderfully, uncrowded, sail/snorkel cruise. Excellent snorkeling, toasted cheese sandwiches, and unlimited cocktails.

    Shopping:

Tangerine: a great locally-owned store for hand bags designed and crafted right in the store.

Aruba Aloe Factory: after a brief tour and demonstration, you have the opportunity by some locally produced aloe products.

Super Food Aruba: 0ne stop shopping location for all of your grocery needs. Fresh produce and baked goods available.

    Nightlife:

Soprano's Piano Bar: a fun location within walking distance from the hotel.

    Travel:

Global Entry: expedited our customs process. I would recommended this program to anyone.

I am so glad you love it here. A little hint about Aruba Aloe: if you like their products, you can sign up on their website for emails. You will receive emails giving discounts and have it delivered to your door at home. I order items(my favorite is the After Sun) and have it delivered at home when there are sales. Then I give it as gifts.
