He got the job and went through training last month. However, with the holidays, not everyone was around to do their job, such as checking his driving record and processing the driving safety course certificate. He was told he'd start between Dec. 16 and Jan. 6.

Warm, and very humid. It rained again this morning. We had breakfast at Diana's and then down the street to Setar. I have found that mid week around 10 am is the best time to go there. Stu usually does not go with me and he was surprised there was only one person in front of us. I got my phone reactivated, bought 3 months worth of data cards and some phone minutes(rarely used) and we were out of there in 10 minutes. I've spent the past two hours organizing the kitchen and seeing what is missing and putting some stuff away. Stu has been working. Once he is done, we will head out to the grocery stores.

A couple of things I noticed: 1. Even though there are street lights along Irausquin they are not working except at the intersections. It seems very dark and not the safest since people walk. People are driving slower and there seems to be less traffic. It is nice being able to make the left turns.

    2. A lot of the construction projects have made some progress, but I am surprised they are not further along.

    3. They are surely clearing the parcel of land across from Oceania. I am hoping it is just to clean it up.

That parcel ( per my friend Janet) is going to be condos.
Could u have stopped at Setar at airport yesterday and saved yourself the trip today ?
Glad though that there was hardly a wait.

Thank you for your trip report - we will be in Aruba in about 24 hours! Can't wait to see and feel the sun - nothing but grey days here in upstate NY.

Yes, it is supposed to be the Sands project of condos-I don't know who owns now. Originally they were approved for something like Oceania-in height of the buildings. Under the last government, it was changed to eight stories from the road back and then a hotel behind us. The new government said, no way and put it back to what was originally approved. However, there were those who thought it would not be profitable enough and thought it would not be built. It seems to take a very long time to get things moving on this island, so who knows. I'll talk to the property manager later in the week. I do know the 4 dogs that live in the lot are still there.

We have a phone we leave here in the condo, so we could not have done it at the airport. The Setar store is right behind Dianna's and Dianna's is always our first breakfast, so it's easy.

Thank you, Andrea. It will be a long day of travel for us, flight leaves at 6:00 AM with a stopover in Atlanta and then on to Aruba. We live in the capital region of NY and it is not easy to get anywhere from here!
