How is the ocean swimming at the Bucuti, Manchebo and Divi Aruba? I have heard conflicting reports about swimming in that area vs Palm Beach. We spend most of our time in the ocean rather than a pool. Is this the best location or would Palm Beach be better? We will be taking our first trip there this October!
That area is very different than Palm Beach.
Sometimes there are fairly good sized waves.
Palm Beach has usually calmer waters.
We spend hours in the water at Eagle Beach floating around and find that the waves are
usually a non issue.
Druif Beach where the Tamarijn and Divi are has some waves as well.
If you need flat calm water the best area for that is Surfside ( the name is kind of an oxymoron) and Palm Beach.

THINK.. is it Thoughtful? Helpful? Inspirational? Necessary? Kind? SIDTM
Druif has waves, which I enjoy. However, there have been days where it has gotten too rough. My only issue with Druif is, at times, there is a deep drop off at the edge. Getting into the water is fine but getting out can be tricky with the waves. You have to time it. Now keep in mind, that I am in my 60s so it may be easier for younger folks.
The beach where Manchebo and Bucuti are located also have waves but much less of a drop off. In this area, the beach is much wider. Only once did we experience really rough waves while staying at Manchebo. It was obvious that it would be a pool day. Palm beach has much calmer waters, tends to be more shallow, more boat activity and not as clear. I’m posting a photo of the waves at Manchebo although it will probably come in sideways.
Normally Manchebo is great... occasional waves and once in a while 'knock you off your feet' waves.... personal experience here! We do enjoy it so much better than Palm Beach with the lack of crowds... very limited water sports and mostly no kids. The water is clear too!
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the best of men!
Thank you for the information. If you spend hours floating around I think it will be OK for us, that's what we like to do.
I’ve never had a problem getting in or out of the water, because of a drop off, when staying at Manchebo. Those huge waves are very much out of the ordinary but it does happen. Their pool is very nice as well. Druif on the other hand can be tricky
There was an older woman who worked at the Divi, her name was Lucy and whenever she saw the rough water she would say to me “Don’t go in that water, it will EAT you’!
