Hyatt Place

Anyone stay at the Hyatt Place near the airport? Its getting great reviews. We are trying to put together a trip over NYE next year but I only have enough points for 5 nights and we were planning on a 6 night stay so I need a spot to crash day one.

We are going there on a day pass that includes a room for the day in a few weeks so I can let you know. I don't think I would like the location for more than a night or 2.

Jay, I do not think you or your family would be happy staying here. The pool is a small rectangle and has seating for about 20-30, nothing is convenient to walk to other than the airport. The rooms are nice. The restaurant food was pretty good, but not much variety.

I think this hotel is best suited for people who don’t like to stay still. If you rent a car and are on the go most of the time, then yes this is a good central location but is more of an airport hotel than a vacation hotel for sure. Kids and teens would be bored out of their minds. The views are nothing. Even from the restaurant your views are of the arrival and departure lanes for taxis outside the airport.

Thanks. We are pretty set in our ways so I think it will be okay for us. We plan to rent a car and head to the Ritz each day per usual. Dinner will be split between some downtown options and the Ritz- all of which we will cab it to. Not sure id do this more than once but for the money and the crazy airline savings to come in a few days early I will be okay with any inconvenience.

Hi! I haven't been on here for a bit, but googled something totally different & it displayed part of this thread...thought I would give my 2 cents. I used to "live" at the Hyatt Place when the border opened & my villa was booked... and still use it here & there (ie, if at the Ritz and too tired to drive back to our Villa @ other end of island) Anyhow - It sounds like what you want to do, it will be totally fine. It's a great place to "lay your head." Some tips: Double check about parking. They didn't charge, then they did..not sure what they do now....(but if you are using points, then parking should be free per hyatt "rules"). Room does make a difference - One of the king rooms is "small" & can be very tight (& position of AC vent didn't cool room the best - no matter what room you have, close the shades during the day to help keep room cool)...Request room on top floor (so less chance of noise/kids running around above you or hearing wild dogs barking). I prefer airport view vs highway (I'm in aviation, so Love airports & was great sunset view)... If you don't have enough points, check to see if they still offer local rate. At a minimum, if you have a local ID, you don't have to pay the tourist taxes; HOWEVER, using points, you still have to pay those taxes since it goes through corporate. Restaurant - they have the typical "Hyatt Buffet" -included so free breakfast is good... dinner I would get extremely frustrated with, it took a long time, food came out too well done, constantly "ran out" of grated parmesan cheese for the caesar salad (we are in Aruba, how do you not have good cheese?? they used the powder stuff). They kept going through chefs...Hopefully they have a good one now! It has been a while since I have eaten there. But they do have nice happy hours!! Just double check the amount of wine they pour...Price sounded like great deal, but was a smaller pour...It made more sense to buy full bottle (especially when they have happy hour specials!)

I do know that some airlines use it when they cancel a flight. A couple who were here for a week were supposed to be on a flight back to Canada yesterday. That flight cancelled and was rescheduled to this morning due crew issues/time issues/delays out of Canada. They were placed at the Hyatt for the night.

We have used Eagle Aruba a few times before we owned for a night or two because they were not as expensive as other hotels. My cousin stayed there last year and was happy. I can also ask our friends who stayed at Talk of the Town last night what they thought.
