    Marriott Stellaris June 2021

Spending our 15th trip to Aruba at Marriott Stellaris. We were there when the pandemic was declared in March 2020, so this visit is our victorious celebration of pushing through and returning to our happy place. That said, has anyone stayed recently (last few weeks to month) to share what the Stellaris condition is? Are palapa's less in demand? Lower occupancy? Any special arrangements needed? Testing for return flight possible in hotel? Just hoping for cliff notes on what's going on now at Stellaris and how it's happening. (Tried to look up recent visits to this property and nothing was posted). TIA.

Here’s the palapa 411: So daily at 7:00am for same day and 4:00pm for next day there is a link that works when on property. https://arubamarriott.ipoolside.com/. Register with your email and set password same time. You find a map of Stellaris beach with all palapas. At the noted times, available free palapas are indicated with a colored circle. You select one by touching it. There is some info you supply like room number and it’s booked. There are also palapas in same map you can book for $30. Here’s the thing, one would think the rentals are waterfront. That is not always the case. Stellaris does a fair job with allocating free palapas waterfront and some you rent are mid way or even backside of beach. So why would you rent? Depending on day, that may be only available option. You see, what I describe with the palapa selection process, goes in seconds. You literally watch the available indicators disappear like popping bubbles. Folks I’m in my 50’s and will tell you this process is designed for people with great vision (using phone small map) and video game finger dexterity...picking a bubble quickly. So they go fast and pressure is on lol. I had my 22 year old son do it for us...maybe rent a kid on property if you don’t bring one. Here’s one secret I asked if anyone had in a previous post...if you are ok with $30 rental...as I said application allows you to rent up to three days in advance, but the close days aren’t great options close to water. If you select the THIRD day from current date, you have better choice of water front rental (3 days away from current date). Changing date is easy with an arrow. I believe you can access link off property but you can’t book, but at least you can get familiarized with it. The process does not seem fair, unless you get a water front palapa, so the fact that everyone must use the link, makes it “fair”. I actually miss the days at Stellaris of sitting by towel hut with drinks, talking to people, all waiting to pick a palapa for next day. More control over destiny (first come in line first serve, when clock struck 4). Now the process is randomized, and you have to practice you app skills. Let’s just say most used to getting there way, will be shown by the link that you are in a random game...unless you know someone or perhaps lose a lot of money regularly in Stellaris casino and they comp you a palapa (I’m just making things up here...). Ok I paid it forward going back to happy on island stuff
