Yes. The car kept stalling at stops sign, lights, etc. yesterday once we got out of the higher elevations. This morning it stalled between the gas station and the parking spot at the hotel, which is in the same lot. Stu, with a lot of help from local people, found someone to rebuild the carb. They actually build race cars or something. We should be out of here tomorrow, hopefully. A long roadtrip without getting stuck somewhere just doesn't happen with the car.

    Day 26, Wednesday, May 18, 2022

We had a wonderful breakfast outside at a cute place near the hotel and headed out on the road. The elevation started to drop as we left beautiful Colorado and drove into Nebraska. The car seemed to perform better at the higher elevations. Once we got moving, it ran fine, but getting off the highway, slowing and stopping caused it to stall. We spent the night in Lexington, Nebraska.

    Day 27, Thursday, May 19, 2022

Not a good day. Stu decided to fill up the car before loading up since the gas station was in the same parking lot as the hotel. The car stalled before he even got to the pump. He filled up and managed to get it started enough to coast back into a spot in front of the hotel. After lots of phone calls and help from locals, Stu was able to find a guy who builds race cars to look at the carb after lunch. He took the car and we vegged in the hotel after lunch at Burger King-one of the few places that was walkable. We decided to go to Walmart(I had walked there to get more OTC meds since the steroids still didn’t clear up the intestinal issues) to get stuff to make sandwiches for dinner when he called and said he was on his way back with the car. He did not rebuild the carb, but got it functional. Don’t ask me details, I really could not tell you. However, the guy did email what he did so Stu has it, and if you want to know, I’ll get the info. He needs to have both carbs-the spare and the one on the car rebuilt and has to find someone to do it once we are home. We went to dinner “in town” which was past a huge Tyson beef processing plant-now I know why I saw so many livestock trucks and tractor trailers.

    Day 28, Friday, May 20, 2022

The weather had changed from unseasonably hot to unseasonably cool. We walked out of the hotel to the very, very strong smell of manure. I lived on a chicken farm as a kid, but this was just eye tearing, nauseating strong. So glad it was the day we were leaving and not the day before when we were walking everywhere. We loaded up quickly and headed out without issues. We saw tons of ranches and cattle. I figure some of them were going to go to that plant in Lexington. We spent the night in Iowa City. BTW, it was a good thing we did not go to Yellowstone. It was in the low 40s for the high and possible snow showers.

    Day 29, Saturday, May 21, 2022

We slept in and finally left the hotel around 10 am. We had some rain, which did get some of the dust off of the car. The farms changed once we left Iowa and entered Illinois. We saw more rolling land (farms) and less cattle. It was very pretty. The skies cleared after we passed the turn off for Chicago. We are in Elkhart, Il. For the night. We should be home on Monday. The restaurant next to the hotel is different-bbq and sushi. It is really good.

I really haven’t taken any new pictures. I will finish the 6th lapghan tomorrow.

we are home. No issues with the car. We dropped the spare carb off to be rebuilt on the way home and I’m feeling meh. Could be worse, could be better.
