The news says it's happening now....
A good friend is a respiratory therapist in Florida and she is saying it's terrible and their Covid unit has been full for a couple weeks with no signs of a decline anytime soon.

my neighbor and card partner is a Resp therapist at Lakeland Regional Hospital.
she says that the isolation rooms are full of covid patients.
she said the use of mechanical ventilation is been less and less which is good.
this neighbor retired on Jan 31.......but has been averaging 60 hours a week since officially retiring.
the big joke is "hey MJ how is retirement treating you?" She says "I hate it and am ready to go back to Jan 30."
NJ, NY, CT now want people coming into the states from hot spots, such as, Florida, Texas, Arizona and others to quarantine for 14 days when coming into the NY, NJ, and CT.
As things open in NJ, not everything is going back to close to normal. We had a show this coming weekend-usually 300+ cars, was limited to 100 by the city(shore community). Yesterday they canceled the parade so the hosting club canceled the show. Our local club probably will not be able to host any of our events this year. It is sad because we raise a lot of money for the NJ Veteran's Home here in town and provide a huge amount of toys and gift cards for a school for children with special needs. We do have money in reserve for our charities for rainy or excessive heat summers when our shows get canceled, but it isn't enough to do what we normally do.
Today was the day, after 15 weeks my husband and I finally were able to get our hair cut. Salons here in NJ were able to reopen on Monday. We felt very safe with all the precautions they are taking ( call when you arrive, everything is disinfected between customers, plexiglass separations, etc ). I keep my hair very short so I feel 5 lbs. lighter, LOL! I also understand NJ, NY and Ct. trying to put some sort of safety measures to try and stop Covid cases from spiking again. We have worked so hard these past few months staying at home, wearing masks when we do go out, social distancing, etc. I think states around the country thought it was mostly a North East/California problem. They didn’t think it would affect them. Now cases are growing every day. I pray a vaccine will be found so we can return to whatever a new normal will be.
Virginia is reporting that things are moving in the right direction here, but the numbers are very confusing. I think they are saying the percent positive rate is decreasing, but the numbers being reported still seem to be increasing so I guess more people are getting testing so the overall percentage looks good. We are set to enter Phase 3 of reopening next week, which reopens more businesses and allows for larger gatherings, but still requires many restrictions. We have a mask requirement in all indoor public spaces here. I'm not a fan, but I do think it is slowing the spread locally. Lots of places have cancelled 4th of July celebrations to avoid crowds. We have decided to keep a couple of vacation days we had previously scheduled to just relax and celebrate Jon's birthday. I found out this week that even when my office opens I will most likely keep a modified work from home schedule since most of my work can be done remotely and we will be limited on how many people can work in the office at the same time, given space limitations in some of the cubicles. Before the virus, I worked from home 1 day a week, and it's sounding like that will flip and I will work from home 4 days. I don't really care at this point, I just wish we had some dates and firm decisions.
Schools are really scrambling, with the latest ideas including surveying parents to see if they will commit to a year of online school. The hopes are that enough parents will commit to online school so that the ones that want to be back in school will have the space needed to social distance. Sounds simple, right? Yeah, not so much. It is shaping up to be a last minute scramble for several counties in our area. Transportation issues, day care issues, staffing issues, mask requirements, equity for all students, the list of questions keeps going on and on, delaying decisions.
Finally, after three months Patti and I had lunch at a waterfront restaurant in New Bedford. The tables were set up outside, spaced appropriately and constantly being cleaned. We felt relatively safe. The food was OK and the breeze was wonderful. It took a lot for us to make the leap and I had to find a restaurant that was serving in an area that was not fenced in so any wind would be maximized. We also went at 2:00 to minimize the contact we'd have with other diners. So it looks like our weekly outing has evolved into quarterly!
It’s nice to hear that your lunch went well. Tom and I have talked about going out but that’s as close as we’ve gotten.
