Covid Vaccine. Will you try to be toward the front of the line?

One of our Aruba related threads has a few mentions of a Covid vaccine.

Speaking for myself, I think that I will pass on that until the bugs are out of the system.
We have all had the "smart phone updates" where we get the notification that new operating system is ready to install...and then find out 2 days later that there are issues and it has caused great problems. I do not want that to happen with Covid vaccine.

I am thinking that this whole vaccine thing is going to be awesome when it is complete, but also think that the rushing of it scares the bejeebees out of me and I would not want to be in the first 50 million or more recipients.

    I am not an AntiVaxxer.

At this point I wouldn’t hesitate to get the vaccine and would want to be front of the line. Staying in starts to get old. That said, I’ll be curious what the Transplant doctor will say. They tend to be conservative in their approach so when they say go we’re going!

As I stated in another post, my husband and I will be in the front of the line. After having a covid victim in my family (my mom), I've experienced this first hand, which probably gives me a different perspective on this situation. Our area just announced that it is participating in a double blind study for a vaccine. I have friends that are my age that have signed up. If I knew for sure that I would get the vaccine, I would do it. I don't want another family to have to go through what we have been through, and are continuing to go through, due to all of the damage that this virus has wreaked on my mom.

I would get it but I'm sure I will be towards end of line as far as who is allowed first, second etc. Hopefully by the time it is my turn there will be some good evidence it is working. Praying a vaccine is around the corner for all to get if they wish and for those who truly need the most.

I'll get it. Front of the line, I don't know. I usually just wait for my doctor, when she says get this shot or that shot I get it almost without question. A vaccine for COVID will be the same.

I'll get it as soon as it is available (and the front liners and those most vulnerable have gotten it first!) based on a chat I had with my doctor a couple of weeks ago and the pharmaceutical company that he indicated is the farthest along I'd be comfortable with it. But I can certainly appreciate anyone who has hesitation about it (except antiVaxxers; sorry, I just don't get that logic). Like all of us, I just want this over.

We will follow the guidelines from our doctors-my GP, Stu's transplant, heart and GP doctors. I am guessing we won't be at the front of the line because my guess is the first people will be those most vulnerable-those in healthcare, first responders, nursing homes, maybe teachers, other essential personnel, but after that I want my vaccine. As long as it is safe and effective, I'd like to have our lives get back to normal.

We have a classmate living in Columbus, Georgia who just started being part of Pfizer's study. She had her first shot on 8/26 and then gets a second shot in 3 weeks. She will have to have her blood tested for antibodies every six months for two years. She said they are having issues getting volunteers for a variety of reasons. She said certain conditions, lifestyles and medications will exclude people from being eligible to be a volunteer.
