    Cutting the cord!

I did yesterday what I now wish I did a decade ago and that is cut the cord! We canceled our Verizon Fios package that had high speed internet, phone and TV. Our last bill was 270+ dollars. As of today we will pay 75 for our high speed internet and use Netflix and Pluto TV which is FREE and has a ton of live channels plus tons of movies etc. We also have paramount TV which I purchased for our NY property but wont renew after finding Pluto.

    Anyone else?
Trip 38 booked for Feb! Cant wait.

my son and his wife did!
they are glad that they made the switch like you did.

one of the good things that our POA (property owner assoc) has done is had Spectrum provide us with bulk plan.
our monthly Spectrum bill had been $235 that included wifi, 1 DVR box and about 200 channels and remote.
after the Spectrum bulk plan was voted on and approved by over 90% of the community, we now have Wifi, Spectrum, 2 DVR boxes and 2 remotes, and 1 regular box an 1 remote. it also includes a landline phone of which we do not have. so, I went ahead and we had a tv put in the living room and our 3rd bedroom which serves also as my card making room. it is great to have tv while I am playing with paper.
the fee $50 per month that was then voted in to be part of our monthly maintenance fee and it is now listed as an amenity.
many other deed restricted communities in our area have switched to the bus package.

believe it or not, our maintenance fee (monthly) is $218.
our contract with Spectrum ends Dec 31 and the increase will be $4 for Spectrum bulk for the new contract.

    Tell me more about Pluto

Pluto is just one of a zillion streaming options. I too don't really understand it all. It was an option on my LG TV- so I clicked on it and installed it....its all I need. My wife can watch her cooking and RE shows...I am not sure it has her Below Deck series but it may.

Cut the cord many years ago. We have Fios internet and no land lines. We use Superbox and ROKU. Stream everything.

FYI...Spectrum has the absolute customer service. JMYO. Get a ROKU streaming player and the Spectrum APP. That will allow you to eliminate the recurring revenue any Spectrum boxes or remote controls. Another JMHO

I should say I have spectrum internet in NY- and love it. I have had no customer service other than then sending me my router, lol Love the free channels etc. I have no boxes in either place at this point.

Tell me about the Super Box- it looks like a one time purchase? Any monthly fees?

We got rid of our landline during Covid. We still have xfinity/comcast for TV and internet. The techs that come out when you are having an issue, online techs suck.

    This is another popular one.

No fees. It sometimes requires a little patience, as a couple of the main Apps take some time to refresh, five minutes or so. It can be used world wide. We found out about it from our daughter in law's brother. He is in the Marines, where it is used my many. We also have friends that use it in Florida. We take it with us to Aruba.

When we first started using it, we had YouTube TV, which is great platform, and were also streaming Netflix. We dropped both and figured we'd break even in four and a half months. We don't miss it a bit.
