It would not bother me but it would be difficult for me not to chuckle and stare once in a while. Having the bear sit with her is one thing but ordering food for the bear is very strange. It sounds like a sad situation.

Andrea, when you saw the woman at the steakhouse, was the bear with her?

yup the bear was there and there was food in front of the bear.
it was in the steakhouse a specialty restaurant that is extra $ to dine there.
what we noticed was she did not order an entree for the bear, the bear ate off her plate.

we also noticed that the waitstaff were very kind to her.
she must be a regular fixture on the cruises and must be a great tipper.

we did feel badly, but that did not keep us from laughing. (we tried to be discreet)

I was very proud of myself for respecting her and not taking a picture.

I feel sad for the lady because who knows what unknown event precipitated this bizarre behavior. But I am glad she has found a way to cope, however odd it is. Bless the kind waiters who are accommodating her.

Kudos to Bear Lady! I applaud her for being true to herself and her bear! Like Walt, I, too, would buy her and her bear a drink!

Is it wrong that I get way more glee than I should out of the fact that it bothered the other person so much she felt she had to write to the head of Carnival about it? I hope she has a lot of pearls to clutch if something like that bothers her so much. She's gonna need em...

I too got some joy reading that the complainer's meals/service may have been delayed while they were waiting on the bear.
    Karma, right?

Since the bear seems to be very important to her, I hope that she will always be able to carry it around, it stays in good shape and someone stupid does not do anything to it. I wonder how she keeps it clean. I think back to when the kids were little and they'd carry around their favorite stuffed animal-a monkey for one and baby Simba for the other one. I would through them in the washing machine to keep them clean.

Whatever floats your boat....If it makes her feel comfort and joy, good for her. I think it would make me smile.
