We stole it from the British. Something I found out while watching Outlander.I told my husband I watch it for the history and here’s proof!

My husband saw Prince Charles near Buckingham Palace sometime in 70’s when he was stationed there while in the US Army. He said he was about 100 ft. away just walking with someone ( possibly a bodyguard ). It was such a different time back then.

I was 7 when they had the now King Charles' investiture ceremony in 1969(I had to look up what actually took place). I remember my mom asking us to be quiet because she said it would probably not see another one in her life time. That was July and she passed away in August due to a (age 35) blood clot that traveled to her head and burst. Watching the events yesterday, I realized that Princess Charlotte is the same age as I was when they had that ceremony in 1969. When my mom died, they took us to the funeral but a family friend took us home because we were crying too much. My grandmother passed away a few months later and my dad's brother a month after that(all three were sudden). We were not allowed to go to those funerals.

Good morning Robin, and everyone else,

It has been a few days since I have been here on the Forum, but to answer your question Robin and as you might expect, I watched the funeral, starting with the removal of the coffin from the hall at Westminster, the procession to the Abbey, the service, then the procession to Wellington Arch.

It was very moving.

Talks about the future of the monarchy, whether in the UK or here in Canada, are for another day.

Did anyone watch the funeral today? I turned it on around 8 so I didn’t see the service in Westminster. I watched/listen till noon. It was so moving when they removed the crown from the casket.
