It's been a tough day with all the folks we've lost.... adding hockey legend Bobby Hull at 84 Years Old.

Jay.... it's senseless losing a young teenager to violence. I hope the school was able to arrange adequate number of grief counselors . So sad.

I just finished reading the plans for tomorrow. Us "non-team" teachers- aka specialists will be paired with a homeroom teacher to discuss the tragedy. We will also have all of our incredible counselors there to help as well.

As a parent of a 7th grader I am crushed at this moment.....I have tears running down my face and to think I need to talk about this and have my stuff together is a bit overwhelming to be honest- Hug any teacher you see you have no idea what we do on a day in and day out basis!

Thank you all. Today was the hardest moment of my 20 year teaching career. I was paired up with a 6th grade teacher to give the news via a written script. As I walked into the room Erin said, oh thank God you are here, I can't do this as she broke down and started weeping uncontrollably. She had Tyler last year and was beyond emotional. I read the script trying to keep myself together for the benefit of all. The kids were in shock and said very little as most did not know him well. The 7th and 8th graders are a total mess and understandably so.

Walking around school is like being at a funeral home....everyone is crying. We have grief counselors on hand but not nearly enough. Not a good day at all.

So sorry you are going through all this. Thoughts are with you. And I can’t believe a 13 year old would even be targeted. Just horrific! Stay strong.
