    Stimulus talks

Looks like there is some talk about giving each American adult 2k per month and $500 per dependent for 6 months. Any thoughts? I have many, lol. First I would love to get $4500 monthly for "free" That said, nothing is for free. How on earth are we thinking about sending out money like that monthly?

Interesting facts on national debt by president: https://www.self.inc/info/us-debt-by-president/ In any event, I doubt the US will provide $2000/500 per month for its citizens. A one time payment seems more likely, but I guess we'll wait and see. If we get $2000 per month per adult, I'll be using that money for principle reduction mortgage payments. If it's a one time thing, it will probably fund our next Aruba trip.

It is an interesting site, Walt. The numbers don't tell everything though. It is important to remember how long each person was in office and what was happening at the time-Roosevelt had WWII for example. Obama was in office twice as long as Trump. Debt is also tied to things like unemployment and the economy-if you are not working you are not paying taxes so less money in the coiffers.

As far as the stimulus package, there are sooo many people hurting right now and need help. But how much do we give them? In the last round, there were people who did not want to go back to work because they made more staying home. However, because of the income limits they imposed, there were others who got nothing and yet were unemployed. The stimulus package really discriminated against those in a higher tax bracket and in some areas of the country you need a higher income just to pay rent or a mortgage, such as NYC or San Francisco, yet those people didn't get anything or recieved a reduced amount. It was also based on 2019 income. I know someone who had a great income the first half of the year, then went back to school and her income dropped to less than half, and will remain at that level. She received a reduced payment, even though her current income would qualify her for the full amount. Personally, we, thankfully are fine and we did not qualify in the last round for anything and I am not looking for any $$$, just fairness for those who made a decent living and no longer do.

We are creating more debt for our country and I think at some point our taxes will go up to cover these stimulus packages. There is no free lunch.

It was talked about at length in April/May and again the other day. https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/202...licans-blocked I don't favor repeat 2000 checks but I don't think its awful to give families 4000 per couple....what is another trillion in debt? Just kidding its crazy debt!

.....and your income may be too high to get anything at all. I just wish the parties and prez could get together on what to do for folks. There are too many that are really hurting. I'm very fortunate to be working (cuz I choose to and am able to) and in OK financial shape.
