Vegas is not Aruba trip report

Thought I would try doing a trip report from Vegas since things seem kind of quiet on the forum. While Aruba is my number one spot for vacation, it’s Vegas for Tom. Funny thing is we’re here “celebrating” my birthday!!

We departed Logan on an 8:00 am flight this morning. Went with the Mint seats as we arrive so much more rested, especially helpful with the 3 hour time difference. My host at the Venetian arranged for a limo to pick us up at the airport. It was a beautiful gold Cadillac limo, very nice. The driver was great. She checked to see if our room was ready and since it wasn’t she offered to take us for a drive, nice tour of the strip and downtown. Perfect!!

Since our rooms are comped we go to the invited desk for checkin but when we got there the person on the desk said oh no I’ll take you to the VIP check in! The lounge was beautiful! When you get tired at the casino they have drinks and snacks in the lounge. Who knew?!

Now we we are ready for some gambling. We were back and forth between Palazzo and Venetian. At one point a gentlemen who worked at the hotel came over and introduced himself. He had an early birthday gift for me. It was a voucher for a free gift at the spas retail shop! It really was a surprise, The slot gods, however, were not kind to us so after about 5 hours we decided to call it a day and go back to the room. There waiting for us was an elaborate presentation of sweets. The tray had a pink chocolate high heel filled with macaroons and a red velvet cupcake!

We couldn’t get over the efforts of the staff to make this stay special. I hope this report doesn’t sound obnoxious or bragging! I just really couldn’t get over the extra effort the staff out forward!!

Birthday is on Tuesday. It’s funny but I always lose a lot on my first day here. I had just one jackpot for $550 and gave it all back plus in less than an hour!!!!

Happy early birthday Peg, I know I won't have time during the week so sending my wishes now. I would love to see a picture of that high heel desert, sounds beautiful, almost too pretty to eat??? (lol) sounds like you guys are quite the VIPs, can just picture you and Tom riding around in a gold cadillac.

Good luck, Happy birthday and all the fun in between!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes!!

Brenda, here’s a photo of the high heel dessert. Not one of my better photos but you’ll be able to get the idea.

Day 2 of losing at the casino although not as bad as yesterday. On the good side, the Venetian has some wonderful restaurants. At lunch today we tried a new spot that specializes in home made pasta. It really was exceptional. Tom uses a mobility scooter when we’re in Vegas as it’s just so much walking. When we go to a restaurant they’re good about finding a spot for us to leave it out of the way. Well today the hostess said she would valet it for him so okay, BUT she didn’t really know how to operate it and crashed into a couple of tables and then again when trying to back it up. I got to laughing so hard it uncontrollable. Fortunately, she was laughing to.

Well, time to head back to the casino!!
