I would consider it if the fare is reasonable. I used to fly American to Aruba in the past until they stopped direct flights. I still have 50K miles with them so I can probably get a business class upgrade which is usually 15K each way. Thx for posting as I didn't know they were starting a direct flight from NY.

Check your balance Ace, those miles do expire but it's pretty easy to keep them active.

The once a week American Air single flight from LGA makes it not that appealing. With plenty of direct flights from both Newark and JFK here in the NJ/ NY area, I'm not sure how American is really going to compete with JetBlue and United. We almost always fly JetBlue to Aruba. Last November we even flew JetBlue Mint service to Aruba and it was awesome!

We often take A/A to the island, as they have the best itinerary for us in the winter months. Can’t comment on direct flights since we can’t get any from our home airport. We would consider connecting in the NYC area in the Fall, but who we use would come down to pricing. We already have Jet Blue, which for the last few years has been the most expensive, so we usually end up with United or Delta during that timeframe. And we usually fly midweek, so we’ll see.
