Arrival day at the airport during covid

We're getting ready to book airfare for our next trip. Is it still preferred to arrive mid-week, to avoid potential lines at the airport, or has COVID travel reduced the traffic enough to not make a difference?

We also see some of the mid-week bookings being canceled, as we've been watching flight prices and wonder if there are any days to avoid to not have our flight day changed?

Saturdays seem to be hectic. Also seems that the earlier your flight, the better.

We have a few different choices from Upstate NY. Either Delta, A/A, Jet Blue or United. Our preference is A/A, through Charlotte. It has an ample layover and it divides the air time the best.

J'm flying American Airlines via Charlotte on Wed. the 16th. I'll report my experience. I'll be wearing my patriotic straw hat, left over from the 4th of July, as an antidote.

Saturday arrivals seem to be the worst at the airport right now with long lines since there are more flights that day.

If you use Delta, they seem to be cancelling some Tuesday and Wednesday flights so keep an eye on your flights if you book those days.

Thanks Amy. I did see your other post regarding Delta and that was one of my concerns. How much notice is Delta giving for flight cancellations?

I would say anywhere from 1-3 months. I found out about my 11/3 cancellation a few weeks ago but at that time they were also cancelling Tuesdays in Sept. and Oct. so others may not have had more than a few weeks notice. A lot of balls in the air right now so it is best to be as flexible as possible with a Plan B and a Plan C if needed.

That should be sufficient. We didn't want to test locally in the states and then have our flights changed at the last minute, which might require another test to make the 72-12 hour window.

Just keep an eye on your flights and be proactive Don't wait for notification because they might be late with an email to you. The sooner you catch something amiss, the more time you have to fix it.
