Flights coming down from NYC area

We were pleasanty surprised to see fights prices dropping for February 2022 week 7&8. Just last week it was $ 1,571 RT for the days and time and seats we wanted for United non-stop flights out of Newark. We paid about $600 each last year during peak of covid. Now its at $950 pp, RT. So we are at the old, should we gamble and wait, or pull the trigger. We value the help this forum gives. Hopper flight Ap says prices should drop before December.

Remember - last February, travel was slower. I have been burned by Hopper many times before. If I were you, I would hold it on Farelock for a week and see. Also, airlines have (United for sure) done away with change fees. You could cancel and rebook with a credit, but you’ll have to watch closely.

Do you recall what you paid in pre-Covid Februaries?

I fly United out of Newark almost exclusively.

Good tips guys. We paid over $700 precovid. We got our room and rental car awhile ago. Just what we wanted. 3 1/2 months out, just for flights, you really need to plan ahead of time to get an ideal Aruba vacation. Do you guys agree? Plus the covid testing rigamarole. It takes some planning for Paradise. But we feel its worth it. Are we crazy or do you feel same way?

Yes, last year was the cheapest I ever paid to fly to Aruba. The prices are going up. We took advantage of the lower priced flights earlier in the year-in Feb. we booked our flight down for under $200 per person and in May our April return for under $140 person. To book the same flight now is another $200 a person. I don't know if this would work for you, but a few years ago, we opted to flight out a day earlier because it was so much less expensive than the day we wanted that even with the extra day in the hotel and food, it was less expensive. I was just playing around on AA and to fly to Aruba on a Thursday in Feb. it was under $650 round trip, but Friday was close to $950.

That's a good point Robin. When on the airlines webpage I always check "my dates are flexible" to see the whole calendar. Hundreds of dollars can be saved by adjusting your flight by a day or two, even with the added hotel night. And an extra day in Aruba is always worth it.

Assume you are referring to coach tickets for these prices, correct?
