Future Flight Costs with Newest Reqirements for International Flights to the USA

For those of you that fly internationally frequently or just your ability to read the crystal ball...do you think that airfare will be on the increase or decrease, going forward for awhile?

Will the airlines try to entice travelers by lowering airfare, if travel drops off again, or will they increase airfare to cover their losses, if travel decreases?

I remember shortly after the beginning of the pandemic, when we returned from our trip in March of 2020, before we were scheduled to return, we could purchase round trip tickets from AA to the island, for $300pp or so from our departure city.

I think it will depend on the new variant. Right now it is a big unknown. I also know people are already concerned with the one day testing before returning to the U.S.A.

    1. Cost of flights: I booked 4 one way flights to/from Boston on Jet Blue during their Black Friday sale end of November. Paid less for each flight than I did the year before covid hit. It really depends on time of year (avoid northeast February vacation weeks for example) and time of flight. I booked a trip Aruba to Boston mid April...early flight 1:00PM I think was about a hundred dollars more than the later flight at 3PM. Guess which what I booked...lol

    2. Covid testing day prior: I just tested on Friday and asked the technician if the new USA rules would be a problem. She said not at all...PCR results are coming back the night of the test. I tested around 9:30AM and received results 12 hours later, Did notice the results were back to the clinic around 6PM.

The real increase in air travel is gonna hit when the fuel efficiency initiatives start to kick in.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the best of men!

Agree with CP. Fares will rise due to fuel costs. We just don’t know when.
