    VIP access

Hey guys, I'm starting a new thread for you to express your thoughts on VIP access at Queen Beatrix International Airport. I scarfed Andrea's reply in another thread to start this:

"The airport has got to figure a better plan.
We will be traveling home on. Saturday in July due to our kid’s school vacation schedule.

I think I am the only one with issues of buying one’s way to the head of the line with VIP"

So, what are your thoughts? Should or would you "buy your way to the head of the line"? I would and I do. I have flown for work for the last 40+ years. Anything I can do to expedite the "airport experience" I do. TSA preCheck, Global Entry, lounge access... anything I can do to make the time spent in the airport more pleasurable I do. How about y'all?

PS: we are arriving on Friday and departing on a Saturday this year.

We use the TSA precheck, VIP lounge and might apply for Global entry.

We have not used the VIP Service at the QB Airport. (the special service that one pays $$$ and gets to buck every line and gives access to the lounge. Accompanied by a concierge from start to finish. That is the service that I kind of roll my eyes at.

Somehow I thought you definitely had global entry. How did you get just the TSA pre check? You probably never needed GE for aruba traveling weekdays? I thought we were the only ones without GE lol.

years ago we got tsa pre check. it has not expired (I believe that it should have years ago) and only works in USA.
in USA we really only fly from FLA to New England.
from New England sometimes we drive to Montreal, Quebec City or Nova Scotia.

When we travel internationally it is usually to Aruba by air and all other destinations by cruise.

We are still on the fence re: Global Entry.

I don’t feel we fly enough to be bothered with global entry. We get TSA pre check when flying JetBlue and while I appreciate it, I wouldn’t pay for it. It’s a pain to wait in line but even if you get through quickly you still have to wait at the gate.

Makes perfect sense. I am dragging my feet on applying for Global Entry because when I went through the process years ago for the CEO I worked for the application process was a big ordeal. I swore I’d never do it for myself. Looks like they may have made the process easier since people seem to get it done quickly now.

I’m with Walt on this one. We have used VIP on an Aruba airport Saturday departure day and found it worth it. We also have Priority Pass, TSA Pre-check, Global Entry and recently got CLEAR. However, we fly between 5 and 8 times a year both domestically and internationally so the cost of GE and CLEAR is worth it for us.
People pay for convenience, time and space- not only at the airport but even when you’re on the airplane. First class tickets gets you on and off the airplane first. Your luggage is loaded off first, with roomier seats, better legroom and incline. Traveling is a chore these days. Anything to alleviate the anxiety and stress is important to us. We usually use our points for the upgrade on the plane for flights of 4 hours or more.

Interesting you mentioned VIP service. We met a person here that was from Toronto. He told us he was a partner in a couple business here on the island, and one of them was the VIP service, available at the airport. We weren't familiar with it, so asked what it was. It's like you said, you pay a fee and you're escorted through the airport, avoiding all of the delays. He said that it is used quite frequently.

We don't have TSA, Global Entry or any other services. If we traveled frequently or left the island on the weekend, we'd consider it. At this point, we haven't felt the need.

We are in our second round of TSA/Global entry and love it. It is $100 per person for 5 years. Stu's AMEX card pays for one of them, so it costs us $50 a piece for 5 years. He also has Priority Pass with the card and we do love the lounges. (We also have Easy Pass for highway/bridge travel). I don't know if we'd pay for VIP service. We try not to fly here or home on Saturdays and don't mind getting there early.
