Looks like we have been paying way too much! I save all my confirmations which I just took a look at, the average cost we have paid over the last 6 years since I have booked my flights is $717 from BDL-CLT or BDL-MIA usually on Thanksgiving Day. The lowest we ever paid was $664 the highest $768 in 2013, most of these were USAir or American, last year was Delta. We always book choice seats for the "so called extra legroom". I am hoping to travel with our miles this year.

For the past 3 years I have booked my friends airfare, he goes late October for 2 weeks out of BDL with connections. I seem to get him very good airfare compared to us, of course he gets the basic seats no extras. In 2015 I got him an amazing price $457, last 2 years $517 and $586. Looks like 2015 was the best year as that was the best price for both him and us.

Just told DH the comparison, his response "what are you doing wrong"? Oops....should never had shared this info with him

We don’t have the option of a direct flight, so it’s alway a one stop and we book economy. What can I say, we’re cheap... usually around a 6 AM departure, arriving around 1:30 in the afternoon. Our average round trip of late has been about $435pp, flying out of Syracuse. We’ll connect at JFK, LaGuardia, Atlanta or Charlotte. We make our choice on cost and time of year. Philadelphia is an option too but the connection is tight, so we usually don’t take that route.

We spend miles. Usually 90,000 miles per person, first class round trip with one stop, MIA going CLT returning. We arrive in Aruba refreshed and ready to go. Being up front usually gets you to immigration ahead of crowd too. Prices from here are generally $500-$600 for coach.

I try to hold out for anything under $500 each for the earliest possible flight out of Newark, JFK or LaGuardia

We pay about $530-580 from Minneapolis. Our trip over NYE was a little more expensive at $650 but we usually get bumped up to first class (and we did) so knew the extra cost was worth it.

We have direct flights from Minneapolis but they're only on Saturdays and we like to travel midweek to avoid a busy Aruba Airport so we opt for the connection through Atlanta on Delta.

It depends on the day of the week. When we went in mid Dec. it was around $650 or so Thursday to Thursday. The same flight Sat. to Sat. was another $290 per person. We are usually in the $650 to $750 range for the direct flight PHL to AUA on AA.
