conventional a/c vs inverter unit and where to buy...

We're debating on whether to purchase an inverter or a conventional a/c unit for our house. For those of you who have inverters installed, do they really save on the electricity costs? Does anyone know how much an inverter or conventional a/c unit costs and where we can purchase one on Aruba? Recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, you save money simply due to the fact that you control them by room (i.e. You only have the a/c unit on in the room that you're in). The design of the hardware is also more energy efficient than traditional A/C.

The cost will depend on the size of the room you're trying to cool... inverters come in different sizes (9,000 to 24,000 BTUs being the most common). Small rooms use a 9,000 BTU unit.

AMC Unicon is our choice for purchasing - while you might save some money at Price Smart, the warranty is terrible and they don't service them (I'm not even sure they install them).
